It was running fine yesterday. Today, I cannot fly at all. I'd start a training mission or just a free flight, get about 5-10 seconds in the game, then the game just crashes/closes and I'm back at the desktop with no error messages at all or anything. I've verified file integrity via Steam, I've uninstalled it and re-installed the game in a different location, still no joy. I've not installed anything extra, this is just the base game itself.

Any ideas appreciated.

I remember that the answer to this problem, in some cases, was to rename the scenery cfg to, scenery.cfg.off, and letting it rebuild when you restart. If this does not fix the problem, then you can bring your old scenery.cfg back.
Ah....but I just realized that you reinstalled and still had the problem! That may not be your fix.

Tried that anyway and got this error message




It then takes me back to desktop so it doesn't really rebuild anything. Starting up FSX again yeilds the same error.

Found the culprit. FSX doesn't like the latest nVidia drivers. Went to the previous one and everything works. Weird.

ICE,,Saw this post and copied in FSX from a backup...At first it said I was missing msxml exe.Went to MS and installed it...Then got the ususal can't start x000 something error went and grabbed the cd's for a fresh install..When I got back it was unpacking everything,,,And I'm running the 5/22 date drivers,,,But Geforce experience NV control desktop thing won't run..But went in took off fom Alaska and it flew nice.. ..MS and the weirdness never ceases to amaze me ..So hhave to redownload the drivers because I need te control panel ,,But FSX is running and I have a few custom mesh sceneries ..
