It´s all WIP still, and yes there are aware of the sound ambiance stuff. AI needs some tweaking too which they are also aware of. All good things in mind so far, which I like. I personally have big hopes on this one, and have been looking for a FPS like this since R6 Raven Shield.

Me too, I lost so many hours in Raven Shield with all the different weapons mods.....discounting SWAT4 as a tactical police FPS with the reluctance on pulling the trigger, I still think Raven Shield was the last great tactical/strategic military FPS

I'm watching some stuff going on right now on the Steam Forum for the game. Some douche is dishing out his opinions on the game and devs, and the devs aren't exactly making me want to buy their game with their responses. One dev even flat out told a guy on another post to get a refund rather than address his concerns. Yeah, no, I'll keep my money thanks. Seen enough game developers, film makers, comic book writers etc disrespect their customers in the last couple of years, that I have zero tolerance for poor customer relations. Customers can be dickheads, but you shouldn't be one back to them while representing your company. I'm going to buy Phantom Doctrine instead. It also comes out today.
I refuse to buy a flight sim that I have no interest in playing, on the off chance that MAYBE someday they'll make the one I really want to play.

I'll purchase the early access/alpha, knowing the current game development status, and the fact that it may never reach the point of a proper release, just like all alphas, but yeah, I saw both topics and kind of agree with you - albeit the OPs of the aforementioned topics phrased them in a very aggressive way, the dev could have easily answered with technical arguments, and instead choose to ignore one poster, and then to not to answer any of the other poster concerns, and instead attacked him (the OP was a dickhead, but the dev is a dev, not a #%&*$# child...). In fact, the second topic (guy telling the devs how to dev their game, lol) had some interesting arguments and pointed at some real issues, but nothing that the devs should be ashamed (after all, is an alpha)...
I expect they get better in their dealings with the steam userbase, until now only people on their forums had the game, now it will be exposed to a much larger public, and they'll receive lots of complaints, even it being early access, as is tradition.
Hey guys. One of the Ground Branch developers here and I'd like to address your concerns.
Plain and simple, our guy didn't handle his first taste of Steam Discussions negativity very well. He handled it like a modder might and not as the face of a business. so I have given him an education in online business relations.
To be fair, the OP came out guns blazing with a tone I have encountered specifically myself before on another forum that turned out to be someone who just didn't like me or my career. He will pop up every now and again bagging on the project. So he came into it with one thing in mind... drop a grenade and see what happens. Fair enough, its the internet. However, those types of conversations are rabbit holes for us. The OP will continue to dig at anything no matter the response and the thread just goes round and round until its locked.
Long story short... Please don't judge the game or company off one or two purposely toxic threads on Steam Discussion boards. Take a minute and look around other places, listen to friends, read reviews or even see for yourself. The Steam refund policy is pretty good. Not for you at this time, no worries. We want everyone to feel good about their purchase.
I bought a 4 pack of this game a long time ago. It's only just now become "playable" as more than a tech demo. But its still got a long way to go. I hope the devs stick with it and that it does well but with how slow it is going there are going to be a lot of angry early access buyers.
The original R6 series of games was my favourite game to play years ago... that, and 'Hidden & Dangerous'. This however I will keep an eye on, but will only purchase if it's SP element is in the realm of the original game... I have been waiting years for that to happen.

Thanks for that John. I'm going to wait for now, but I'll consider getting it once the AI squadmates are in the game. And then, yeah, there's always the refund system if it just isn't for me.

I understand what you mean as a early backer, but now it´s in EA. All I can say is that one of the reasons to be on Steams EA is to speed up the game developement. Devs do this on there spare time and with no external income, thus EA should help them out in that aspect. That wont stop folks from expecting to much from a EA from the begining which in turn only ruins the whole concept of EA. Some EA games on Steam have been in EA for more then 3 years and are still at it, GB has just started yesterday, so I don´t see why some people are already jumping into conclusions so soon. With this I mean the "new" buyers of GB. Those who backed them up some time ago, have all the right to say it´s been slow going.
Let´s just hope that all of us who have been waiting for something like this to come along since R6 and GR can enjoy such gameplay in a not to long future.

Sounds good. Hopefully we can get it to a point that scratches that old school R6 ich for people.
We hope to be showing off some really early on the fly squad command work in the next few weeks. So keep an eye out for that.
A couple of Vets were streaming today and pretty much played Ground Branch as its meant to be played. We all know about the rough state of a lot of things in the game, but this shows what its like when played the right way with the right people. Thought I'd share. https://youtu.be/2H9oTYThEYo

I had a very short run around one of the maps just to get a feel for the mechanics, I'll be revisiting but the one thing that stood out immediately.......
Why can't devs get looking down a sight correctly.?....Ground Branch is exactly the same as Arma 3 early access before Bohemia went back to the drawing board. Please oh please can the devs look down a sight and they will see that;
Looking down a sight loses a lot if almost all peripheral vision....of there is any peripheral vision then it is blurred because it is not what you're focusing on.
The sight picture is only sharp when you look through the centre of the sight
Your arms are not fully extended when looking through the optics
I'm ex-military and yes, I have OCD when I see something so simple done so wrong.....Ill post a picture tomorrow but I hope the devs have a closer look at this.

Here's my beef regarding the optics/camera views from first 2 minutes of play, all settings/binding are default so not sure if there is anything I'm missing or whether it can be changed with the camera settings?
With weapon brought up into the 'ready' position the 3rd person view and sight picture is viewed as below;
However, when you bring the sight up and supposedly look through the optics, see below;
The 3rd party view doesn't look too bad, and I appreciate that your eyes are varying distances away for different optics.....i.e your eyes will be almost touching the sight on a sniper scope but will be further back for an ACOG......but Ground Branch just seems to have it all wrong whereas in many other areas of the game they've got it bang on.....
...but this is the one that really gives me a massive bug-bear
If you looking through the optics to get this sort of sight picture, there is no way that much of butt of the weapon is visible, nor would it be the periphery be in focus and nor would you have peripheral vision left, right and above the scope (and certainly not with the same clarity of the view you get through the sight) and to be honest if your eyes were that far away from the optics you wouldn't be viewing an image as clear as that through the eye-piece anyway. If I recall correctly, Arma 3 had the same problem in early access but then it was rectified into something very realistic.

Thanks for the feedback. Remember that you can move your optic on the rail and in this instance you still have plenty of space to move it closer to the rear. That will get you the sight picture you are after.
I also hear you on the optic's behavior when farther away. Unfortunately that is a tough issue to tackle with scope shadows and various other visual issues. Its something we don't have the resources to tackle at the moment.
Ive just picked this up and just had a quick run through on the training level maps.
Liking what I see. But don't get how you move the sight back? When I go into the setup screen I move the sight to the rear of the rail, click "apply" go back into the game and the sight is still in the previous posistion. (Which as Para mentions is way too far forward).

Hi,
While in the setup (loadout) screen, when you "move" any Item, you will see a green or orange outline around the object you are moving. Move the object in such a way (on the rail) so that the outline is "green", that means that the object can and will snap to that location. Release the object and it should stay were you left it, if the green outline was there on release. Hope it makes sense...
Sometimes you wont see the green or orange outline because you are out of the snap area, in other words, the object can not be placed there. Orange outline means that object is selected, green outline means it can snap/fit to that object/location.
Have fun!

Hey Red,
Many thanks for taking the time to explain that! Much appreciated.
Makes sense, will try it out as soon as I can. Though had been setting the sight as far back as the rail went so I guess it wont be as far back as I would like!
Well I still haven't had much time recently to explore this game properly, but did spend some time last night trying to set the weapons up. No matter what I tried I can not get the sight to stay in the posistion I set it at.
I get the orange outline as I move it from one point to another. I only get the green outline when I am moving the sight toward the weapon. When it actually moves onto the rail it just stays orange. I've tried all sorts of differnet sights and swopped weapons about. Still no joy.

Baffled!
Green outline means it can "snap" to that position. Somtimes it´s hard to see and the "snap" guide has very little margen from being up or down. It´s like a thin line that you have to follow in a horizontal plain. So once you see the green outline show up hold your mouse steady in that horizontal plain and move it left or right, then release your mouse key and it should snap to that position if the green outline was there when you released it.

I finally fixed it and it was all to do with my Anti Virus. I had to disable it scanning my "User" folder/Ground Branch, without doing this it wont allow the game to save changes to the files!
Blimey, thought I was going mad. LOL. BTW if anyone else has this issue - I'm using Bitdefender.
Not sure if these have been noted (or even if the Dev's still drop in here) but thought I'd mention them:
1: Weapon sight picture - When you stand its rock solid. When you crouch it has a small amount of sway! Should be the other way round or even better. Largest amount of sway when moving, Less when standing still and smallest amount when kneeling. Adoption of an ability to rest agianst low walls, over furnture, etc (ala SQUAD) would be great!
I would like to see implementation of fatigue as well - nothing too mad. SCUM/SQUAD does it quite well as does ARMA but havent played that in a loooong time.
I also would like to see a "hold breath" mechanic.
2: Bino's. At the moment if I use binoculars on my 29" monitor it only has a black mask for about half the screen. So you get the optic in the center surrounded by about 4" of the mask then the rest of the screen is showing through.

Yes alot of these things are being looked at and/or in WIP. You can join the GB Discord channel which is were most of us hang out or look for other players for multiplayer sessions, join teams ect. Devs are there too, so you can ask questions aswell and they will be happy to reply...

I really like this! Just picked it up, played around a little last night. Lone wolf stuff is alright, but when friendly AI with mission planning happens, I will be so happy.
What a great update to Raven Shield.

One of the devs was on the original (Red Storm Entertainment) Ghost Recon
You might like Black Day, it´s got that original GR flare to it too.

I played this last night with a bunch of random guys. We had a great time. Working as a four man team to clear a big tanker is difficult. AI needs some work. They constantly announce where they are, and the best they do is run at you most of the time. When they start shooting though, they will KIA you.
Its pretty fun in its present state. Its more than promising at this point. For the price, you can buy it and it is fun. There's usually a handful of servers with people on them.
The word "Martyr" is just a fancy name for "crappy fighter".
Before they work on campaigns, attachments, uniform options, etc, they need to work on the AI, or at least demonstrate they can make them challenging enough. A part of the single player campaign should include team AI and they are nowhere close to being at a level that would benefit the player. No dedicated AI programmer on board and no mention of adding one anytime soon.

You do know that you can set the level of AI ingame right?

Yes, the video is gameplay from latest build (1031), with AI set to the highest level, which is Veteran. Very little evidence of AI, not to be confused with difficulty, which would be how fast they see you, how fast they shoot and how accurate they are.
I played the original R6 games to death... but if a detailed and comprehensive SP campaign doesn't turn up I'll probably give it a miss, which would be a shame as it looks pretty good.
