I just love this sim ( do hope WOTR is as good.) I was somewhere over France fighting a Nueport and amid the full power turns and twists and loops a loud Racket started which reminded me of 1 of my 1st Car back ( a long time ago) Anyway, it sounded like a blown Rod bearing ( Rod) just wacking away.as the motor still ran. Wow just Great what with my other two pilots lost wings in a N-10 and a N-17. Now a Engine Rod in a D-III. Immersion factor a + 10

Yes, random engine failures are modelled...

...and the D.III is the plane to get them in, watch out for the spontaneous combustion!

Flying the B.E.2b in March 1915, I suffered system failures in two straight missions which surprised me very much the second time. Managed to make the landing the first time in a field, but the second time I landed short of the airfield and crashed into a fence. The aircraft was a write-off and my observer and I were listed as "Shook up".

One mission before the first failure, a B.E.2b in my flight suffered a engine fire and went down behind friendly lines. The observer was killed.

So three straight missions and three system failures for my flight. I asked for a transfer.

Yes I've lost a few pilots this way too.

But I still feel that at least on the rotary engines there are too few engine problems. I beleave we have all read about many a camel etc leaving flights along the way..reducing them from 5 to 2 or 1 even.

make mistakes and learn from them
