I live near Salt Lake City, UT, where Hill AFB has an F-35 Fighter Wing (388th). I see them flying overhead frequently and find myself pining for the glory days of JSF (Joint Strike Fighter) or TAW (Total Air War) or Falcon 4 or Tornado, where developers were content to release 1-aircraft study sims that may not have been ultra-high fidelity, but sure were fun to fly.
It's heart-breaking to me that we are finally at a place where processors and graphic cards can re-create photo-realistic graphics and flight sims have all but dried up. DCS has let me down too many times with their ridiculous release schedules and requirements (200 GB of HD space? 32 GB of RAM? Really?).
Larry Holland, Microprose or Spectrum Holobyte, where art thou?
"For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand." -- Ephesians 6: 12-13 KJV

Even if ED/DCS were perfect, nobody is getting study level data on an F-35 anytime soon.

Well, I guess it's hard to make a proper study sim of this aircraft as probably most documentation about it is still classified? Why the F-35 and not the F-22? TAW was about the F-22. Because you see the F-35 all day? Never say never though!

All long gone! The last thing I remember being made by Larry Holland and his studio was "Secret Weapons over Normandy" which is was about 15 years ago.

IMO, a proper study sim is one where the developer makes it as realistic as possible with known information, and takes their best reasonable guesses for the rest.

Microprose really got a lot of mileage out of the F-19 engine. I personally wouldn't mind a new Jetfighter style game. Burt, burt, burt, Oh Mah Gawd, there's no clicky pits or VR!!! I cain't ever go back!!!

I want a study sim of the original joint strike fighter, the F-4 Phantom. It's on Belsimtek's schedule, F-4E is inbound.
