I'm usually pretty fortunate with my screens over the years but my Samsung LCD TV has a black pixel about midway up the screen. There's actually another one that is not so black nearby. Its really annoying as its midway so anytime the screen is light such as looking at a skyscape its noticeable. I tried looking up Youtube videos for help but I think the first few videos on the lists are just mean jokes. Probably spent five minutes sifting through different ones only to see people saying in the comments that they are not serious. I watched one video part way through not getting a good feeling about it because of the guy's behavior and then he starts slapping the screen all over with a spoon saying do this and do that for about two hours and when he went the the supposed fixed result it was a totally different tv. Sometimes I can't believe how rude and wasteful people are to their fellow man.

Does anyone have any successful methods that have worked for you? I started pressing lightly on it but decided to stop as I really don't know what to do. So far the legitimate things I've seen are to take a ball point pin, cover it with a damp clot and then apply slight pressure to the pixel with the tv turned off and then turn it on whereby you then release the pressure. The other suggestion seemed to refer to some sort of free software that flashes different colored lights in an attempt to "jump start" it. I did notice that when I first put pressure on it before I knew what I was doing the black pixel seemed to move. I suppose I can live with it but I'd love to fix it if possible. I've only had the TV about 4 years, its only lightly used and I imagine its out of warranty already. Thanks for any suggestions from the community.

I have no personal experience. However, as I began to read your post, I started imagining an application that flashes pixels in order to "break them loose" (in a manner of speaking).

Then, as I neared the end of your post, you've seen that suggested. So, maybe serendipity. The idea you found seems worth looking into. But, FWIW as I have no special knowledge -- other than reading from time to time that people have successfully gotten a pixel to working again.

I've had problems with "stuck" pixel's before, where it's not actually dead but stuck on red or green. After some googling, I took a soft cloth and messaged the area in a circular motion for about 30 seconds. After doing this a few times, it became unstuck and worked properly. At first, it would occasionally reappear and I would have to rub it away, but eventually the problem disappeared for good.

Worth a try, maybe your pixels aren't actually dead.

Yes I hope its not a "dead" pixel as the tv is only lightly used which is a bummer. I don't know how to tell the difference. If its by color then it concerns me that it appears black. What do you think about it moving though? If it were a bad pixel how can it move elsewhere? Are pixels fixed within in the screen? I'll try the circular thing and maybe the damp cloth and pen and turn tv on trick. If none of those do anything then I suppose I can try Allen's reference to the programs used to un-stick them although the tv is not hooked to a computer so that'll be a little more involved. Thanks for the feedback.

Generally a 'dead' pixel is black and won't ever show a colour. A 'stuck' pixel is fixed on a particular colour and won't change to an alternate colour.

This pixel flasher attempts to unfreeze a 'stuck' pixel by rapidly bouncing through colours in order to free it up. (The clip lasts for an hour).

The pixels are stuck in place and are effectively what makes up your screen resolution..i.e. 1920x1080 (Full HD) refers to 1920 pixels across and 1080 pixels down. They simply change colour according to the image that needs showing. If you have a dead pixel, then it's dead and there isn't anything you can do....there is a chance that the pixel flasher can bring it to life if it is indeed just stuck and not showing any colour or stuck on black.

When an object moves across the screen, neighbouring pixels change colour one by one in succession to give the appearance that the object is moving. There's a limit to how fast the pixels can change colour - this is the refresh rate.

Well folks upon closer look, thankfully the bad pixels were not actually black it seems. It just looked like that from a distance and against a whitish or light background. I'm pleased to say the damp rag and ball point pin trick actually work. I wasn't really expecting too much from that as it just seemed like one of those iffy kinds of thing but amazingly it worked. There was one pretty bad, apparently stuck pixel that was very dark, another lesser dark one and then a couple of other even lesser ones that are pretty much non perceivable from a distance but this method seems to have fixed them all! cheers That makes me feel better.
