I notice in a recent night mission in crimea summer 1943, there are 2 ruski AI Douglas DC-3 or C-47s (can't tell) flying near an enemy airstrip then go back. So what were they doing weather observation, ground photography?

Li-2's, Licence built DC-3... they put turrets on them, even used them for bombing missions, Recon and paradrop missions, take your pick...

I would say either recon or weather observation. Moon was out so ground was visible. It flew to axis held Anapa and then back.
