I have been trying to adapt Carrier Air War for some multiplayer fun.

Using Ray's SPAW ships I have the entire Japanese fleet at one target, and the entire allied fleet at another.

This was an escort of Corsairs to the Japanese fleet in MB-3 MkIIBs:

Its early days yet, but my goal is to have a number of groundstarted missions possible, with some good island scenery to view smile

Great stuff Jel. Good to see that the work we did on this theatre is finally going to be of some use.

I'm hoping some of the other half-finished theatres such as China and Iraq may follow.

I'll have separate post with more details in a few days but I just wanted to drop in to tell all of you that I've got a massive SPAW upgrade package in the pipeline.

Basically I did the same thing to SPAW as I did with DAW last year. That is, I added a bunch of planes for years 1940 through late 1946.

The player will be able to pick a year and play CAW or SPAW with entirely new planesets, from bi-planes to jets.

All I have to do is finish up the loadouts and it will be ready for use.

Of course, now that Jel is fiddling with the floatplanes I'll probably have to dust off a set of them that I've had sitting on the shelf for about 5 years.

Heck, even paranoids have enemies.

There's a "CAWreleaseBeta.exe" 7-zip installer in the 160Special folder at MediaFire.

Run it in your "160SpecialGR" folder wink

Doing more work on CAW I added extra railtracks and with the flagging system some were ship convoys on invisible tracks.
I put one near the Japanese fleet which is a static target with a carrier airfield and lots of ships.
You can see the difference here:

The ones on tracks are moving in the opposite direction, and the smoke indicates the movement.

Setting up these extra tracks made me aware of a bug in the 160 exe.
Some time ago I had hit a problem with "Little BoB" to get truck convoys on roads and rail convoys on rails working simultaneously with the correct spacing between components.
The fix I came up with was fine, until I worked with CAW. With the bigger distances involved the mixed convoys were got being generated anywhere near the target that was set.
So, I went back, worked out a fix which gave good results in CAW, anfd then tried the same exe with "Little BoB". It worked perfectly smile

A road convoy I met on the way to the target

Another going in the opposite direction in the other lane

Eventually I got to the train and made a real mess of it smile

I will do an upload shortly, with the additional/replacement files I made for CAW, and the six new exes I have made. These are the old and new map versions of
The normal 160 exe which is for offline play with the user making selections from EAW screens
The "160special" version which uses MSN files loaded by the player using the mission editor
The "160MPOnly" version which starts on the multiplayer screen.

The latter two types can be used at GameRanger for a lobbied launch.
