Now my posting rights have been suspended on DCS FORUMS for my above post. rolleyes 2.5 is now released as a bugged POS and VEAO still owes me a P40. Nineline can stick it where the sun doesn't shine and ED needs to learn that when they release a product that doesn't work with their own product requirements that customers are going to be unhappy. Now their requirements say 8GBs(16GBs for heavy missions) minimum. That is a bunch of bull. I have a mission with only 8 planes in the air and nothing else on the winter Caucus map that uses between 12 and 16 GBs the whole mission. I am surprised someone isn't suing them for false advertising. What a joke.

I hope this clarifies a little more of what is going on, and that ED is truly working to make this the best experience for all.

Looks like they spent so much time making it shiney...now you have to strip units out of an already sterile and lifeless battlefield to make it playable. thumbsup

Ha! So they didn't know about this increased demands on systems when they were testing and making videos for their teasers? They're only highlighting themselves for the idiots that they are! At first it was a memory leak issue that could've crept in between development and release of the beta version, but now it was present in the engine all along? Hurr durr!!

On a product that has taken them 4+ years to make? On a product that just lost the Beta label and is now officially a Release version? An 8GB RAM kit costs £95 and is reasonable for most 64-bit systems now. Up that to 16GB and that's £150+ for a kit, and most users with even that much RAM are having issues. A 32GB kit costs £300. Buying that to play DCS, nothing seems wrong with that picture for you? Is 32GB enough to run DCS with no RAM issues? On a software that they've been working on for the past 4+ years? On a software that's released in 2018?

Rely on ED to make their software work with the absolute minimum number of their customers smile

With the field of view in a vehicle such as a BMP being very narrow I can't see why they can accuracy pinpoint an aircraft and track with such accuracy. Coming in for a gun/rocket run is almost suicidal because they tend to track, aim and open fire right as you get into range and start lining up your target. Very disappointed in this, because air to ground (outside of ATGMs) is still practically non-playable

As an A-10A flyer, I'm also anxiously waiting for this to be fixed. I bumped a thread about this at ED a few weeks ago hoping it gets fixed soon.

Soon? How long has this issue been an issue? I remember jousting against BMPs in DCS A10C when Shilkas ceased being a challenge. I've not played DCS for 4-5 years now, maybe more. So yeah. Soon.

Whoa, whoa, whoa!! Slow down there! It looks like you're just looking for things to complain about now! biggrin

TOTALLY your fault for not having 32GB RAM, SD! Get with the times! Us hard-core gamers are rocking 64GB RAM kits nowadays! smile
Also TOTALLY not ED's fault that they didn't realize that the quad-SLI 1080Ti rigs they're running with 128GB RAM isn't representative of their customer base!

Funny how raindrops was a priority and how ED apparently listens to the customer's "wish list".... when it suits them. How about the other, more higher-ranking items on that wish list, Wags?

Yes a nice touch. But how long before the end user gets to experience it for themselves? Im thinking, due to past experience, that this will only be abailable for the development branch and testers for at least another year.

Which you will notice for the brief period you're on the ground. When you're not busy setting up systems or trying to remember your role in the party.

DCS Pretty Wallpaper Generator is coming along nicely with the added bonus of DCS Pretty Videos Recorder DLC.

I was thinking it more like a waste of time and resources.

why ? is it anywhere near release date ? from what I understand they will release at first an early preview version, the beta version will take somewhat longer

so they have time to add eye candy to it, I am OK with that since I don't plan to purchase it any time soon, if ever.

Doesn't matter how close it is to release date, the fact is they're working on eye candy that you will notice for 5 seconds and move on while they're way behind schedule on items that you will be using time and time again on the sim.

How often will you really stop and admire these raindrops and LEX vapor trails before going back to the business at hand? How often will you be using A-A modes or A-G radar or AIM-120s or LGBs? Shows you how ED prioritizes things when they work on raindrops because the customers have it on their wish list yet ED will release the Hornet with a stunted A-A mode, no A-G, limited ordnance..... maybe the customers need to put those on their wish list too so that ED actually works on those?

This time around, people can't say "oh, those people have different skillsets from those who do code" as I'm sure the devs making code needed for this eye candy (raindrops and LEX vapor trails) can also make code for A-A radar, A-G radar, etc. This is not about texture artists not having enough work and are thus making various skins, this is coders working on eye candy when they can work on actual avionics stuff that matter.

they might have bought a license from PrecipitFX and implemented it - which would be a 3rd party work.

it is odd that of late I am defending the developer ... biggrin whatever.

That piece of "eye candy" is probably going to increase the minimum specs yet again. So upgrade your RAM everybody.
