My wife and I are celebrating 40 years of marriage this year and tomorrow evening we leave to fly to Switzerland to start a tour on the Rhine that starts in Basel and end sup in Amsterdam. Then we are heading the UK to visit some friends. Returning on May 5

Don't get rowdy or have any wild parties while I'm gone ......and don't forget to feed the dog biggrin

Be careful in Amsterdam Archie.

Window shopping is still fun though.

A dog? We have a dog?

Where in SimHQ Towers are you hiding this dog from me?

Surely everyone knows how much I love dogs.

I shall indeed be sampling the local wines, and there is also a winery excursion included in the cruise. I may check in now and then but will probably be 'otherwise engaged'

Coincidentally we will arrive in Amsterdam on April 20 ...my wife lived a sheltered life and does not understand the significance of 4 20 smile

Why everyone knows that 4 20 is a very important date for marijuana smokers! wink

Me being the long time history nerd though, 4 20 will always be known primarily to me as Hitler’s birth date.

Last time I was in Amsterdam, all the "public servants" in the windows of the red light district spent the majority of their time gazing at their celphones. I was like, "WTF?!? Get back to ho-ing!!!!"

Have a good trip Archie. Switzerland is great, just real expensive. But so beautiful!

Demand for their services must be dropping. Just wait until the lifelike robo hookers come on the scene!

Zurich was nice but BAT CRAP CRAZY expensive. I have a Wenger Swiss Army knife that I paid about $60cdn for. It was over $200 in Zurich. A "reasonable" ( not fancy) 2 course dinner with a beer and a glass of wine is over $120. Did a side trip to the Black Forest yesterday. Ate cake, drank wine...was great. In Strasbourg today. Absolutely beautiful, not expensive. Was in a big Lutheran church where Mozart had played the organ. Having a grand time

I’m glad to hear you are having a great time Archie. Yeah, the “sticker shock” for Americans and Canadians when they visit Europe is quite common. smile

...at least at the major tourist-y sites, and/or major banking/business centers like Zurich, Paris, London. Out in the sticks it's (much) less (especially restaurants and accommodation), but then also less adapted to the needs of the average tourist.

Some people say that you can blame Rick Steve's PBS travel show for making the cost of traveling thru Europe higher. biggrin

I hope you both having a good time. Everything is fine back here, nothing to worry about... Just wanted to check a couple of things before you get back though.

The dog seems to be off his food at the moment since he managed to get out the other day. I think he's just missing you both. Coincidentally, next door's cat has gone missing too. What's the vets number again?

I was a bit worried you would get car trouble while you are away, so took it out; you know, just to keep it ticking over and give it a good run out. I never realised that old classic of yours could still shift like that. Anyway, I picked up a little damage on the car and dropped it into the workshop. They're a bit backed up with work, but reckon they can get it all done and back to you in about 12 weeks... Once the car has dried out... After the lake incident...

Lastly, I was really admiring that antique crystal vase in the mahogony display case, where did you get that again? Oh, and the display case too... hahaha

Update: The dog is fine. He must have found the missing cat's collar when he got out and swallowed it by accident. He coughed it up today and since been eating properly again. Although he's had terrible wind, kind of reminds me of cat. biggrin
