I don't see why this new map would have this problem by release.
Why is the "all world ocean as base and then...add land on top" approach bad?
It was a problem back in the day because if you wanted better water effects, it had a high framerate hit and I was told back then that it was because the entire world was an ocean and under all that land, the sim would still "render" the water effects (or something to that effect) and thus the framerate hit.
Weird that Sith took the picture away from the post. I wonder if it's because of this thread?
