Thought I would show you what is possible with the Chieftain. Maneuverability improvements; The drives are engineered G3 Dirty Drive only. I don't want to go higher due to heat build up. Look at the roll / pitch / yaw stats and compare to your stock numbers. Questions just ask. Wingy

Thanks for that, but I don't know whether to applaud or cry.
I have three questions....
1. Can I have your money?
2. Can I have your Chieftain?
3. Why not?
I will have questions I'm sure, but at the mo I'm so far away from away from what you're showing it's depressing. I bet you CAN fly it like a Vulture with that performance. Cheers Wingy, you've given me something to aspire to anyway.
Like could you drop an engineered Bi-Weave that I can scoop up? Are you using MRPs and/or HRPs?
No, now go away or I shall taunt you a second time!

I'm guessing the credit grind would be fine, it's the engineers grind that I'm not very much looking forward to.

As for the money, transfer is laborious, but doable. What do you need?
Thanks, that's generous, but I was only joking. I want everything now, yeah, but it will only mean anything if I work for it. I've done one donation effort and it isn't just a matter of just handing over the credits. So I'm good, just envious is all Thanks for the answers, I was planning on going four boosters tonight, but I may need to upgrade the PP first. I'll check it and see. BTW, I did indeed compare our numbers, and it's really not funny at all, I'll have you know. OK, maybe the absurdity of it all is. I mean I just dropped 50 million and it's like a Geo Metro compared to your Koenigsegg (are you a car guy?) But I'm currently undaunted, until burnout. So let's see how far I can get before then.

Actually, more than satisfaction of a job well done, working for it gives me the right to complain about it all. Grumpy old man code of conduct. Free stuff and you should shut the hell up

OK, I'll start looking in to it.
As I might have guessed, I can't do much experimenting on my Chieftain until I upgrade the power plant. I don't have the headroom to switch to rails, or missiles or any of those things. I can't add any shield boosters either. I only managed to increase my bank balance to 7 million last night and that's a long way from a new 6A PP.

I fail to see the point in dumping weeks of time into the game simply to remain competitive against other players. Frontier made a bad decision with how they put them into the game.

And how do you get the blue UI? I've used this web-based editor: Elite Dangerous GUI Editor The following is copied from that site for clarity: To make the theme persistent over game updates, find or create the file GraphicsConfigurationOverride.xml inside your home directory under the (possibly hidden) directory AppData/Local (Windows) or Library/Application Support (OS X), and there under the directory Frontier Developments/Elite Dangerous/Options/Graphics. The file can be used to override any settings found in GraphicsConfiguration.xml, but for setting the HUD theme its contents should be: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?> <GraphicsConfig> <GUIColour> <Default> <LocalisationName>Standard</LocalisationName> <MatrixRed> 1, 0, 0 </MatrixRed> <MatrixGreen> 0, 1, 0 </MatrixGreen> <MatrixBlue> 0, 0, 1 </MatrixBlue> </Default> </GUIColour> </GraphicsConfig> This example is the default HUD theme – replace the Matrix lines with the code snippet from the editor. You can undo the modification either by using the above code for the default theme or removing the entire GUIColour section from the file.

Frontier made a bad decision with how they put them into the game. What do you mean? Unless you're playing in Open, there's no real competition between players. The Engineers was just another thing they've put in the game for players to grind for, but it wasn't really very well implemented initially. Seems like there's some improvements now.

DBond I used ED Profiler to change the hud colors. Was much easier that the other methods. https://www.reddit.com/r/EliteDange...er_updated_unlock_maximum_draw_distance/Wingy

The Engineers was just another thing they've put in the game for players to grind for, but it wasn't really very well implemented initially. Seems like there's some improvements now. I only play in Open. I'm not a coward. *flexes* But when a game threatens to become a job, simply to remain competitive, well, there are other games I can play instead. Same reason I never played a MMO, too, and stuck with real-time strategy and first person shooter games for my online itch. They were skill based, not time-based, and I could walk away for a day or a week and come back and I'd still be as good as I was before. Elite is awesome, but needs depth and less time sink. No, awesome is an understatement. You truly feel like you're the pilot of a starship, more so than anything that has come out before. I suppose most of my disdain and resentment stems from my immense want to play, and my disappointment the developers haven't seemed to figure out what the big issue is with how they put the package together.

Well, you can play in Solo or Private Group. Heck, even in Open, I suspect once you move out from the populated areas, you won't see CMDRs for a good while!
In what way do you mean "competitive"? Don't want to be ganked? Shield up!

Well, that's fair though, isn't it? He spent some time and effort finding and collecting materials for upgrades, therefore his ship is no longer equal to a stock ship. If you were in his shoes, why would you want to lose the upgrades you essentially "paid for" just so some other CMDR can have his fun? I'm starting to appreciate the Engineer grind now though. Just got a lot of what I needed (Phosphorus) from mining and got a lot of cool stuff as well (Painite, Palladium, Gold, Osmium), but the thing is I wouldn't have been mining if I didn't need that material. I would've just been doing same-old-same-old trading, so I appreciate how the Engineer grind is making me do something else, taking me out of my comfort zone. I've re-fitted my Python to do this too, something I would have **NEVER** done otherwise! I've fitted a scanner on my DBE to scan some high wakes to get stuff for my grade 5 upgrade. My DBE FSD just went from the standard 32LY jump range to 46LY, an impressive improvement even for an A-to-B ship! It seems like the RNG is not very much in play now for upgrading the modules; the effect/outcome is the same. The RNG is in play when collecting the needed materials, just as it is in play when finding the right asteroid to mine or waiting in sites to find AI ships to kill, but obviously with different chances of finding materials. There is also a slight RNG in play when modifying; so sometimes you only need to work on a module 4x to get it to max out one grade and move on to the next higher grade, sometimes you need to work on it more. IIRC, my highest was 6-7x before it completed one grade. As for time sink, there is a lot of that in the game. Getting from a Sidewinder to a Cobra is a time sink. Grinding Imperial Navy rank to get a Clipper is a time sink. Grinding credits to buy an A-rated module is a time sink. So is working on Engineers to improve modules. No offense meant to you, Mr.B, but why should a guy who spent 5 hours on a game be at the same level as a guy who spent 50 hours or 500 hours on the same game? That's just not fair. Having said that, I'm not really familiar with your game style. Weren't you "policing" human CMDRs? What other interaction do you do? Maybe you can find a new way of doing an old thing? Or maybe give Engineers a try? Like I said, you may enjoy or at least appreciate the new gameplay it makes you do. The thing that made you stop playing just might be the thing that makes you resume playing
