Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World The Great Escape The Train Grand Prix The French Connection (I actually met a guy involved and wow, was it more complex in real life, with many, many more people involved) Dragon (film about Bruce Lee)
What kind of car is that? What does it matter? When I drive it, I'm Steve McQueen

This one had never even occurred to me but you are absolutely right! The film was based on a stage play which already had many liberties taken with historical facts. Predator though? I'm sure you were joking. @ RK - I see soup dragon has inspired you.

Battle of Britain Empire of the Sun Indeed.
I've been watching some strange low budget films of the Great Patriotic War lately, interesting though to see the Russian perspective on events.

I've always been quite partial to Papillon 1973. I guess the message of not giving up is what I appreciate the most about it.

Lion of the Desert I always liked Anthony Quinn as an actor. The Beast IMDB has it as The Beast of War but when I saw it it had The Beast as the title.
