Gasp in amazement at the conservative take off!
Tap your feet to the sounds of Bill Monroe!
Marvel in the application of both a GPS and a paper sectional map on a knee board!
Swoon at the affection and emotions as only a man wearing a leather flying helmet can feel!
Try and contain yourself through the thrills of a gentle left turn!
Witness the changing of a radio frequency!
Watch as the flying machine descends to the Earth with majestic grace!
Hear the grinding action of grooved asphalt onto a solid rubber tail wheel!

Pretty thrilling stuff, if I say so myself.

Okay, seriously, this is from a week or so ago when we had a rare break in weather. While the wind wasn't too bad, it was bumpy as all get out - but I was going through pilot withdrawal.

And sense I can't remember if I shared this one or not...

Nice flight Dart thanks for sharing it.

Take off, cross country flight, landing, all in the length of a single runway biggrin

Since that day was the first in a long time that was perfect for flying, my sleepy little airport sprang to life in the afternoon - to the point of having five active aircraft populating the field at the same time.

Four on the taxiway, one landing.

I was "number one" waiting to take off as a visiting Zenair was landing, with a KR2 waiting behind me along with a C172 and a Cardinal taking up the rear.

So I trundle out to the strip, firewall the mighty VW engine, and lift up off of the ground. Once in stable flight, I announced I was going to go right and clear the runway, and then parallel it to allow them to proceed.

The Cessna 172 made it to the end of the runway before I did, the KR2 long gone.

smile

I got a short flight in yesterday as I'm seriously working on determining the "V speeds" of best climb over distance and best climb over time, but it was a bit bumpy and wasn't amiable to any kind of serious data collection and the weather was going to worsen later in the day.

I don't know if it's a placebo effect or not, but that slightly larger propeller is making life easier. She acts a lot better on landing, settling down and kissing the runway without issue.

Most decidedly inoperative!

I've determined that the pitot tube can't be in between the wings - even when I extended it out, it still read high.

So until I figure out how to place one elsewhere (and I have a lot of ideas), the ASI is just something that fills a hole on the panel.

Here's the back half of that very same flight - but the weather changed rather dramatically in a very short time.

My fellow pilots may spot some things that could be improved on, but not the decision to go around. Twice. smile

There's a lot I could have done better - my glide angle was too shallow, for one - but she made it back to the ground in one piece and able to take flight again.

My God! The man's flying an airplane held together by velcro! Really, though...those "Am I down yet?" landings are great, aren't the?

Today's flight was a mixed bag - I got to fly around some lone puffy clouds but caught a yucky crosswind gust and had to extend my landing!

F15sim, you can get the longer version in the RC sub-forum - brakes locked up on takeoff and I went off into high grass. Why there is waist high grass 15 feet from the runway was a rather pointed question I asked the airport manager...

Oh, here's Episode The Second of the repair - I'm learning how to adjust the sound levels and making it really amateurish in other ways.

I kind of get a kick out of the fact that the view count is so low, in a perverse way.

Been enjoying watching you go through the process.
