Thank you! ;-) Here are two new ones, hope you'll like them too...

1- Grim victory for the Red Baron
2- Early victory by Guynemer's Nieuport 17 on an Aviatik.

I like them! As an artist, myself, I've been wanting to do something like this. One thing, though, for the purpose of historical accuracy, that red Triplane is from a photo of a modern day replica. You can tell by the engine. But, really, those are well done! What programs did you use to create them?

Hello Pouch,

I know for the modern engine on the triplane (from a constructive criticism on a French forum), I am already updating it for future release... ;-) There is also the cross in the Udet vs Guynemer which should be more 1917 than the actual 1918 (badenkreuz)... You are also limited by the planes in activity today (not easy to find a Gotha GIII or an Aviatik C in recent years! ).

I use Photoshop as my main tool... I begin by hunting good HR photographs of planes and VFR "scenes" on site like Flickr, Pinterest, Google image (with HR option in search). Then I precisely die cut the planes from original to integrate them in my new composition. when I am satisfied with the result, I add details (markings, special effects, etc..) and try to remove details that are not from the era (obviously I forgot the DR1 replica engine! ;-) ), finally, I use some filters and colorations to make the whole thing more coherent together. Result is not perfect (I don't have lots of time to allow for this hobby) but it is still pleasing to my eyes... :-)
