Hi all,
I thought you might like to see my 13th build - Sopwith Pup, Serial No: A6156 “OS” of No.54 Squadron, RFC, based at Flez, France during April - May of 1917, as flown by Capt. Oliver M Stewart (5 victories).

The model had some aftermarket addtions:
'Aviattic' PC10 and CDL linen decals.
'HGW Models' seat belts.
'Gaspatch' turnbuckles.
'RB Motion' aluminium nuts.
'Albion Alloys' micro-tube.
'Steelon' mono-filament.
'Polak' grass mat.
'Copper State' figure.

As usual I've created a downloadable build log in Adobe PDF format, for those who might want to use it.

I've revamped my website, so to view any model, go to the gallery and select it. If it has a PDF build log, it will be available to download from the 'Adobe' icon on the models photo's page (click the photo's to enlarge).

My next model is the Hobby Craft Spad XIII C.1 of, of course, Frank Luke Jnr, 27th Aero Squadron, 1st Pursuit Group, 1918.

Beautiful sir!
Wish I had your skill. My house would be decorated up very nicely.

I second Dukes comments,Phenomenal work Sandbagger and the attention to detail is second to none pal.
How long may i ask does it rougly take you from start to finish to complete your builds?
I have just had a look on your site..Jaw dropping i particulary love the "Dusty II" Tripe and the Roland. But every single one of them are brilliant Mike

Somehow the term “knock me over with a feather” comes to mind! Every model you have built is stunning but each one seems better than the last.

Every aspect of the model is first rate Mike. I took particular notice of the grass and bare earth patches. The terrain is awesome and incredibly realistic. The lighting is also bang on for effect. The scale and erect tufts of grass are amazing. Tell me more about the terrain build please.

Best Regards

The only question I would have for myself is: "Just how many pieces would I end up smashing this into halfway through the build in frustration?" Beautiful work! Anyone have any idea what percentage of Pups ended up with the upper wing mod?

Hi all,
Many thanks for the encouraging comments.
It really depends of the particular aircraft complexity and more importantly the kit manufacturer.
Wingnut Wings are complex but don't usually present too many problems. Other manufacturers, especially 'limited run' kits can leave a lot to correct or modify to bring the model up to spec.
Normally a single seater will take 4 to 5 weeks.

As for the terrain - I can't take credit for that as it's a 'Polak' grass mat (Meadow). Sadly it seems 'Polak' no longer produce mats, as they were the best around. 'Scenic' grass mats are an alternative.

You can even see where the buttons from the seat cushion have been pinched off, extraordinary!

Sandbagger, this work is real art. You here the term "museum quality", but this model exceeds anything I would expect to see in a museum. Hats off.
