Sorry for the odd title but I was pressed for space.
The below link leads to a long standing discussion and debate from WW1 enthusiasts (both “professional” and amateur) that originally started with a simple question and shows, least to me, why the “known history of Great War” is dynamic and evolving. Bless everyone in the discussion for having the knowledge, and enthusiasm, to do so.
Perhaps I am showing my inner geek but I find these types of discussions - or perhaps a quest for historical truth - to be fascinating and, right or wrong, always pick up something interesting.
Long and multiple pages. Have a tea and comfortable chair ready and maybe you’ll pick up something.

That's the thing - once one starts digging into the literature, one often finds differences of opinion, varying accounts, contradictions, "alternate facts", or just plain nothings. I often find myself parsing through what is accepted as the biblical source of some unit, historical figure or event, and quickly realise that what the literature gives as fact, is in fact, impossible. To try and sort it out can often make your head spin. And that is where the Forum is fantastic - you get people coming at something from various angles, and the truth eventually sorts itself out
Cheers,

As the Official Keeper of Secret WOFF Knowledge I am sure you have found out many tidbits, interesting facts, and surprises over your years of information gathering.

Do know when I think I am gonna “call the WOFF database on something it has wrong” it turns out I was wrong - within the limits of the game engine of course. Someday I may surprise you. Or not!

Yeah... I'm fascinated by the topic of 'historiography'! Even folks witnessing and then recording an event for posterity have different perceptions of what truly happened.

Case in point point Duke. The last time my wife got mad at me, her retelling of the events leading up my supposed infraction are totally different than my recollection of said events!

Unfortunately sir I must be hanging around with your wife’s doppelgänger or maybe a long lost sister or something.

Duke, I think it is the species itself and no blood kin, though that is possible. Back to your post. It is a very interesting thread. Thanks for posting.
