Love the music of Matt Milne that is in the game menus (even downloaded the additional music add-on pack) but I quite often end up turning music Off in the Workshop. The reason?
For whatever reason it comes across as quite loud compared to the rest of the in-game (flight) sounds.

Is it easy (or even possible) to do like some games and have separate volume controls for the game and the menus?

Maybe just increase the workshop menu volume, then turn down your speaker/windows system sound

Could but that would require an “alt-tab” to get to my volume controls for flight on the Taskbar as I use a headset - if I am understanding you correctly.
Guess I was being a bit lazy and trying to avoid 4 extra steps to the flight line. Thanks though.

There used to be a freeware program for “turning down the volume” on music files permantly. Sounds like a rainy day project.

No once before you fly make sure in workshop you increase menu sounds higher or to max if not already.

Bring up the windows volume (start /search menu type sound and you should see "Adjust system volume"
(or if you have icon in taskbar right click open volume meter.
Reduce system sounds. (you mix levels here for various things).

yes you could also physically mod/reduce the volume or loudness on music files in ...\OBDWW1 Over Flanders Fields\campaigns\CampaignData\ShellMusic using Audigy or similar sound tool.

Thank you.
Turned out to be pretty simple to "mod" the volume of the files. Tried Audacity but it was way complicated (i.e., I wasn't an expert in 90 seconds of clicking around) so another search and I found this. Does batch processing. Done in about 15 seconds.

Hmmm. Maybe I am not so clever as I thought.
The largest sound reduction is -6dB in the batch mode but I didn’t really notice a difference.
Tried it several more times and I am not sure it is getting much (any?) quieter though the program seems to be working fine. Unless 6dB is a very small amount. Not a sound guy.

Duke, have you tried just doing what Pol suggested? Just reduce the "User Interface" values in Workshops sound settings. Seems like the easiest way to do it.

I did. I wasn’t sure I totally understood so I am glad I got that right.
In any case it did nothing...unless you have to totally exit/restart WOFF for it to take effect. Unsure if I tried that.
I will give it another try. Thanks!

EDIT: Just happened to be flying. Tried setting I/F to “10” quit WOFF and restarted and it did nothing for the volume of the music. Perhaps, somehow, I am confused though it all seems simple enough. I’ll try some other things.

That should have done the trick. I’m not at my computer, so I can’t test it. Perhaps someone else can check if adjusting User I/F values has no effect. If so, then I’d call it a WOFF peculiarity.

Quick test - Setting User I/F to 0 has no effect on the music or other sounds while not flying.

Thanks Stache!
Glad I am not losing my mind here. Least in this case anyway!

Have to try and figure out how to get the volume to, guessing, 25% on those 67 music/menu files. Nice background music but not in your face.
The program I tried says it doing it, and it may be, but not being a sound/music guy perhaps it is not doing what I desire.
