Or do you have a lot of careers and jump around between them?
I was in the “lots of careers” category and jumped around between them (and different aircraft types of course) depending on my mood, which WW1 aviation book I am currently reading, etc. This (bad) habit of mine is causing me problems.

Switching between an Se5, then a Dr.1, then a Brisfit, and on, makes me sort of a “jack of all trades, master of none” as it takes multiple missions to get the hang of an aircrafts quirks and performance - and normally I pay the (fatal) price before then especially in the high octane world of 1918 as I now look at the smoking crater of my Dr.1.
Bad landing (near the crowded landscape of Douai) after engine damage I didn’t really realize I had but still. By the time I discovered I had to land I was low over the city. Didn’t realize it because I hadn’t flown the Dr.1 in a while and wasn’t in-tune with the engine sounds.

So I think I am going to purge careers, re-roll one, and stick with it thru thick and thin (or death) then rinse, repeat with another single career - maybe the same plane or perhaps another.

How do you play? One career at a time or do you jump around?

I try to keep myself focused on one pilot and commit to a single career. Helps to improve the roleplaying aspect of the sim to me.

I also run a single campaign at any one time in order to immerse myself in the character. But to each their own.

Well good. Not the oddball here. Not too oddballish anyway.
And now, in my legion of aircraft and Squadron favorites, which plane and time period?

And I am glad to hear the RP factor mentioned. Thought it was old age that didn’t allow me to track Squadron mates, the land war, memorize the terrain, etc. Perhaps with 13 careers it wasn’t really my fault! smile

Always thought the Dr.1 was very pretty - and tricky to fly well - looks like J11 in January 1918 then. Lots of history and high drama. Cya soon beloved Se5...but not too soon I hope.

Usually 1 pilot and one campaign. Currently flying a Hun and Brit campaign in the DID. Now I remember why I only fly one.

One at a time for me. I dont get much time to fly as it is, so I have to focus!

Bit oddballish here. I do jump around a bit, I will not fly a pilot until dead, but then I am not a stickler for Dead Is Dead.
If I am enjoying the career, I may resurrect the pilot.

3 DiD careers in Centenary Challenge, one non-DiD pilot with my namesake and Major Test Ickle for testing new 3D models I’m building.

I start four careers at a time, usually British, French, German, then US. I start the first career and fly till the officer dies and move to the next, after my US pilot dies I start over again. No I have never had a pilot finish the war. I tend to fly in late 1916 and 1917, with of course the US in 1918. I move around from squadron to squadron, never flying the same one (for a given service) consecutively, though I fly the LAF French squadron more than any other.

Please stop making fun of Major’s name. He’s sensitive in that area.
