I really hope this will happen. Quentin makes a lot of my favourite films. I love the comment on the video - 'Klingon mother******,do you speak it'?

If he’s shown anything, it’s that he can tackle any genre. Or create a new one. Certainly has his own unique flair to all of them, but the guy is good at what he does. It could end up the best ST movie ever. Lets face it, there are several really good ST movies, but the bar isn’t super high either. LOL

but the bar isn’t super high either. LOL I disagree. I think Wrath of Khan is the closest to perfection that you can get with Star Trek.

As for cast both Patrick Stewart and William Shatner have expressed interest in the Tarantino movie!

Oh, now that is really interesting. I just assumed this new film was going to continue with the JJ cast.

To me, WoK is about as good as it gets for Star Trek, and I think that if non-ST people could get past it being Star Trek, they'd find it works on a lot of levels as just a good movie (dealing with aging, loss, your past catching up with you, etc.).
First Contact was easily the best TNG movie, but the casual approach to time travel bugged me. They had that in STIV, which wasn't one of my favorites, but the comedic structure of that movie made it a little easier to tolerate for me. Aside from Spock's aging and getting off the planet at the same age he died, I thought STIII was actually pretty good. It introduced some good new spacecraft as well (space dock, Excelsior, Bird of Prey - which was originally supposed to be Romulan, and it looks like the bird painted on the bottom of the old BoPs).

As for cast both Patrick Stewart and William Shatner have expressed interest in the Tarantino movie! Sure, those three are the best ST movies, loved and well known, but they have yet to put something out that beats the two part Best of Both Worlds from TNG. There’s nothing epic feeling, just “really good”. Nothing as good as ST deserves, something as good as ESB. All of the movies feel short of being serious movies, they feel like long episodes of a show, not a major movie production. It isn’t easy to bring a show to the theater, but still.

Those were great episodes but not better than the 3-4 best ST movies. Not for me at least.

Having just recently been caught up in the #MeToo hysteria in Hollywood (rightly or wrongly I do not know) I am going to guess that Tarantino's Star Trek is dead, as his career as a whole.

Why? Because of the Uma wreck thing or because of Weinstein producing some of his movies and not believing the rumors? He handled the wreck very well. His response yesterday that is. On the other, I doubt that will be too bad. Many people were in denial about that crap.

Well there is a bit more than that coming out, if its all true. Spitting in Uma's face, choking her, adamantly defending Roman Polanski's' rape of a 13 year old girl.

Agree F4U. I think if the public gets any more new damning revelations about these events then Tarantino’s career is toast.

Yeah, that's not good. Especially the Polanski thing. That's always been a creepy subject. I thought Uma and he were good, other than the wreck that he admitted was a horrible mistake. We like to think we know something about these people because we like the work they do. It's a good lesson in reality. Of course, we deal with people like that in our every day lives all the time and don't even know it.
