Hello,

So the time has come to dust down OFF UE n get back up in the skies. ive selected a few mods and have them installed and ready to go but i have a few queries.

in the thread for the optional cloud mod the creator suggests having the mission editor mod installed to get the most outa the mod. that confuses me though, am i meant to just load the editor and leave it open while i fly campaigns missions? if so, what effect does it have on the mod in question?

how else are others using the mission editor to enhance their campaign experience?

My favorite thing about the mission editor is being able to select my plane. The best planes always go to the historical aces in the squadron first regardless of your rank or number of victories. The ME allows me to override that.

I also use it to create lone wolf missions whenever I want one.

If I'm in a period of the war where my side greatly outnumbers the enemy I sometimes eliminate Flight A in order to even things up and make it less crowded during dogfights.

I use it to set fuel levels. It's much easier than using the in-game method.

It also features a "dead is dead" option for historical aces. So if you kill Oswald Boelcke during your current mission he won't reappear in your current pilot's future missions. I don't use this feature but I think that many people do prefer it.

...

Just start the Mission Editor when prompted by WOFF (you must enable this feature in WOFF UE Workshop - enable 3rd party mission editor) and (if you want to use ONLY Weather/cloud mods) click on "Weather mod" button located at the top right of ME creen, then apply weather options (wind speed and directions) , close ME and continue with mission loading in WOFF UE/CFS3. I do not recommend you to keep the ME opened during mission flight because it can have impact on game performance.
However, once you are in Mission Editor, I would recommend you to customize your mission - especially waypoints, because sometimes their placement and selected altitudes are not the best. That is what I always do for my campaign missions. Do not mentioning the feature of "live" and historically correct aircraft placement on airfields with help of "Consolidated airfields mod" by RJW and "Populated airfields mod" by JJJ65. The latter does not work w/o help of Mission editor.
Just my 2 cents.

Tony,

The main advantage of using the mission editor along with the cloud mod is that the editor overrides some of the restrictions/limitations of the WOFF OFFDynamicMissionWeather file.

Using just the cloud mod without the mission editor, you still get all the new clouds, but without many of the graphics improvements to the horizon and background skyboxes. In addition, you give up a lot of control and variety over the different wind directions and wind speeds/wind effects that only work when using the mission editor along with the cloud mod.

Those are the main differences.

Am I correct in assuming that one would not use 4L0Ms skybox mod if I am going to use BBs OCM 2.8 with the latest edition of the Mission Editor?
I am also assuming that one would not use 4L0Ms Cloud Mod while using BBs Cloud Mod 2.8. Thanks in advance.

I see where the OCM is compatible with 4L0Ms Cloud Mod2, but I still cannot find if the OCM 2.8 is compatible with 4L0Ms Skybox mod?

All versions of my cloud mod are compatible with 4L0M's cloud mod, and should be compatible with his skybox mod, as well. While I do not personally use 4L0M's skybox mod, I use his cloud mod along with my cloud mod without any problems.

4L0M's cloud mod alters different cloud textures than my cloud mod, so there shouldn't by any conflicts.
