So we got tickets to see the Cranberries for the first time a couple of months ago and just before the show I received an email saying the show had been canceled because of Dolores' doctor's orders. She was having back problems.

Now I find out today that she passed away. Such a shock. Guess we'll never get to see them live anymore...

Loved the Cranberries first two CDs. Very sad. Saw them play live on the BBC a few months back and I have to say her voice wasn't a patch on what it once was. Only 46, a shock indeed.

Reports are saying that her death was both sudden and unexpected. She had been suffering with bipolar disorder for a long time though so maybe drugs were involved. RIP

One of the most beautiful voices ever and a stunning lady as well, not that that matters of course. RIP.

That is sad. Back problems, she probably accidentally overdosed on pain medications.

Yes, so sad indeed. frown

This band marked me as a late teenager and young adult in the 1990's and her voice was very beautiful indeed and some of this band's songs were among my favorites of all times.

RIP...

That is sad to hear. As an 80s and 90s kid I probably didn't have the same taste in music as most of my peers but I did take to and really enjoyed a variety of songs that came out in those years including some from the Cranberries. I especially like Dreams.

I'm with you there, Coot.

I have the first three Cranberries CDs but by far my favorite is their debut "Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can't We?", including hits "Dreams", "Linger" and "Sunday", but the entire album is good from start to finish (no skippers here).

RIP.

I listened to this song every day for over a year.

Very sad loss.

Tarnsman, that song was the main reason I bought the CD (only song I knew by name at the time, the other two I knew from the radio but not by name). What a pleasant surprise that the entire album was fantastic, even on first listen (doesn't happen to me that often).

I watched a small interview with her and a band member and she spoke of having some back problems(slip disc I think) from her years jumping around on stage with her heavy guitar hanging from her neck. Back injuries are no joke. I hope she wasn't alone and had friends or family nearby. Thanks for posting Linger. That's another that I quite liked.

Initial reports are saying it was due to an intentional overdose of painkillers. Official word still to come.
