Looking for something to connect that wiring, nothing fancy, was thinking about Leo Bodnar BU0836X or is there a better option, planing on doing the same with the joystick Simple Thanks, Marc..

SFS is easy to USB'berize if you re-use the actual wiring, what make things easy/fast. To have 2 buttons in the switch at left of left throttle grip you need ad a wire there, in original Suncon this switch press the same button ( #20) in forward and back position, with the added wire you have individual 2 buttons (#20 and #21). This scheme is for wire SFS in Arduino PRO micro (~$6) +MMjoy2 firmware, keeping the original wiring and Diode Matrix (diodes already installed), so can be easily plugged in BU0836A row and columns pins (same Diode Matrix). Notice that done this preserve the original SFS internal cables and connectors, and so easy the job. Conversion topic in Portuguese language: http://www.gavca.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=49&t=24168But will be more complicated wire SFS in Bu0836X because this controller use different connection type (Shift Register instead Diode Matrix.), so implicates in remove all existent Diode Matrix wires and diodes in SFS and make a new wiring for this Shift Register connection type. Other probable issue is that BU0836X may don't fit easy inside SFS case due their size.

Thanks Sokol1, was thinking about using the existing wire, my plan is to both the SFS and Joystick to have a very small footprint , having just the wire coming out of both and connected to a box that the electronic would fit inside. Could I connect both controllers to one Pro micro? I also would use only one pot in the SFS Thanks, Marc..

Connect all in an external controller box present problem with connection cable, the actual DB-15 connector may don't have 15 wires, and 15 wires may result few for the job.
Potentiometer (if keep) require a 3rd wire, so only pots need 4 wires (X, Y, +5V, Gnd - this two last shared) leaving 11 wires for all 22 buttons...
BU0836X require 1 individual wire for each button, plus 1 common = 23 wires.
Then you need use DB-24 connector's and find suitable cable for interface.
Doable, but not the easy way.
In a 3x8 = 24 buttons diode matrix (BU0836A) is need 11 wires (3 for row, 8 for column or vice versa) what may result viable with original cable - need check number of internal wires, most of gameport joysticks I disassemble don't have 15 wires in cable, despite use DB-15 connector.

You're right. Actually the Arduino PRO micro is so small that I could fit it on the throttle. I think that would be my best option Thanks again, but don't get to far, I'll need your help again Marc..

So I ordered the Arduino PRO micro, do I need two ? One for the throttle and one for the stick? And how many can you daisy chain if you can ?
Marc..

Ideally is one for each controller leaving then independent, avoiding interface cables in between, using short wires in potentiometer/sensor cables - important for prevent "noise".
Sit the controller (Arduino, BU0836) inside one and hook the another there will present the same complication with cable/connector mentioned previously.
Yeah! It makes sense Thanks a bunch Marc..
