Got this idea from Panzer in the CH, so what are your favorite movie soundtracks (if you still buy complete albums (generic term for full sets))...lol.

I don't think you can go wrong with Guardians of the Galaxy (1 and 2) "Awesome Mix". So many great songs.

The last soundtrack I actually bought was Invincible...the Marky Mark football movie. wink

Old soundtrack albums I bought about 30 years ago or more...original Footloose, Top Gun, Ghostbusters.

The Good,the Bad and the Ugly and Once Upon a Time in the West compilation is the only movie soundtrack album I own I think.

Oh yeah,and Moonrise Kingdom. I enjoy a lot of movie music but usually only 1 or 2 tunes so rarely buy them.

Good thread idea! thumbsup

For me, "Footloose" (1984) all the way...

1. Footloose by - Kenny Loggins
2. Let's Hear It For The Boy - Deniece Williams
3. Almost Paradise (Love Theme ''Footloose'') - Mike Reno, Ann Wilson
4. Holding Out For A Hero - Bonnie Tyler
5. Dancing In The Sheets - Shalamar
6. I'm Free (Heaven Helps The Man) - Kenny Loggins
7. Somebody's Eyes - Karla Bonoff
8. The Girl Gets Around - Sammy Hagar
9. Never - Moving Pictures
10. Bang Your Head (Metal Health) - Quiet Riot
11. Hurts So Good - John Mellencamp
12. Waiting For A Girl Like You - Foreigner

++++++++++

The Girl Gets Around...

Bang Your Head (Metal Health)...

==========

One of my guilty pleasures is "Xanadu" (1980)...

1. Magic - Olivia Newton-John
2. Suddenly Olivia Newton-John, Cliff Richard
3. Dancin' - The Tubes, Olivia Newton-John
4. Suspended In Time - Olivia Newton-John
5. Whenever You're Away From Me - Gene Kelly, Olivia Newton-John
6. I'm Alive - Electric Light Orchestra
7. The Fall - Electric Light Orchestra
8. Don't Walk Away - Electric Light Orchestra
9. All Over The World - Electric Light Orchestra
10. Xanadu (Xanadu Soundtrack Version) - Olivia Newton-John, Electric Light Orchestra

Wife liked the movie and I already had the soundtrack (8-track then LP [cool how there's an ON-J side and an ELO side]), so I finally watched the movie at her place. Meh...prefer the music only.

==========

I dunno, ON-J has always had this innocent sounding charm I was attracted to, also heard in "Grease" (one of wife's favorite soundtracks)...

EDIT: Oops, I forgot a shared all-time top 5...

The soundtrack to "The Rocky Horror Picture Show".

When it comes to non-English language movies, these soundtracks really stands out to me:

Das Boot
Seven Samurai
Ran
Kagemusha
Ivan the Terrible Parts I and II.

I love American Graffiti. Many people have no clue that it was directed by George Lucas.
So many people on that cast who became big stars later. Harrison Ford, Ron Howard, Richard Dreyfuss, etc.

Close Encounters of the Third Kind, E.T., and The Hunt for Red October are among my tops. But I wanted to highlight a particular moment in the E.T. sound track that I remember when I saw the movie for the first time. I was so awestruck that for just several seconds I felt myself slip out of the story and simply thought to myself how awesome that was. It happens at approximately 2:40 on this clip - it is the very moment when E.T. looks up at a particularly huge tree and sounds amazed.

The issue is not p*ssy. The issue is monkey.

You got me curious so I looked up the composer for "Black Panther". I've never heard of him but I noticed he also scored "Get Out".

I'm still waiting for a good Prince tribute (without the simulated stage orgy).

I'm tempted...

[Linked Image]

...but I can't get over the price for an 80's has-been with General Admission standing. Not that I'd want to be seated at a Morris Day show, I just can't see paying that price. At least I can reconsider without worrying about seat location, but I probably won't.

The Little River Band is playing right before Morris Day (scroll down), but we'll be in NYC...

I think a relatively unknown show called "The Andy Griffith show" may have introduced a small fraction of the population to him before this movie. biggrin
