Update: The newest version of Ikaros has a campaign. It's set up like a Red v. Blue NATO training Op w/ live ordinance.

The Nordic theater comes with a Cold War Version along with the Regular version (which includes 5th gen. stuff), so it's like one theater w/ two genre. The cold war version even comes with a 3D pit (clickable)for the F-104G Starfighter. thumbsup

Nice! It also made me realize I've never seen Korea outside of the Summer tile set smile

A couple fun missions last night. First was interdiction against some armor. They weren't in a column, so my ripple of 4 CBU-87 only netted a couple kills. It was my first time with CBU-105. Didn't realize they were PGM until I'm the cockpit. Got a kill with one, but crossed over the target area at about 10k and got popped with something. Lost my MFDs. It made me realize I need to brush up on TACAN used with the HSI. I followed ATC vectors back toward base for a while, but got bored and left...

Next flew a very short strike against a bridge. We blasted the crap out of it. On the way back, I ordered wingman to RTB and had fun flying in formation with him, all the way to touch down!

I've gotten to a point where I need to start selecting some more challenging missions where my own incompetence is not the only threat. Maybe some A2A and SEAD type stuff. Also need to learn more about radios, navigation, and probably refueling...

Oh. And I forgot...

That first shot is a testament to the immersion this sim can spring on you unexpectedly. Jumped into the pit to see some SAMs blasting off right in front of me. Wish I would have been quicker with the screenshot capture and caught the massive fireball and missile lifting off. They arced off behind me as I took off. Never saw if they got anything...

I recommend getting TacView and start ACMI recording of your flights. It'll show you what got you and from where. If you think you have SA now, TacView will show you more smile
