When you don't have the big bucks to get a new system and a rift or a Vive and you want a bit of simulation (good physics and attention to detail) with your smartphone... try Ultrawings VR for Gear VR and Daydream...
Amazing little flight simulator with great feeling of flying in VR... I didn't expect much and I was blown away! Sure it is not DCS, IL2, RoF, etc... but just for the feeling, it is a real blast to play! I play with the small Samsung controller and it is very fluid and intuitive.

I have a Samsung Gear VR, and I had not heard of this. I tried it out, and it is actually a lot of fun just tooling around in the ultralight. Everything looks cartoony, but the sense of scale and the ability to look around smoothly more than makes up for it. Also, the Gear controller makes for a fine flight stick, and I found that I was able to make very fine adjustments with it as I flew. All in all, a pleasant way to fly around for 15 minutes here and there.

Good recommendation, and I second it, and I thank you very much for posting this. I see that it is your first post; are you a member of the dev team, by any chance?

I return from a long absence... first post but not first time here. I am glad you find it also to your taste... too bad there is not enough game like that on this medium... I wish they would do a kind of red baron 3D with the same engine... it would be so cool.

If you are interested, there is also these games I tried that are not bad at all even if more arcadey:

Overflight: Link to store A duel air combat game, where you can play in a full cockpit spitfire or Me109... not landing unfortunately and the physics are decent but minimal... a bit hard with the samsung VR controller as the pace is quicker than with Ultrawings, and pretty upseting for your stomach is you had lunch before playing (LOL)

End Space: Link to store A elite like space combat without the depth of Elite Dangerous. Pretty cool graphics, good control and good fun
