Hellshade I’m more thinking on Clod engine, Il2-1946 WW1 can be downloaded from the SASforums.
Oh CLOD would be pretty awesome now that Team Fusion Simulations has spent years crushing the bugs, but the IL-1946 CUP / BAT mod for WWI is - I am sorry to say - sad. It's nowhere near the quality that is in WOFF UE. If someone took the time to really "import" WOFF UE into IL-2 1946, you'd get the benefits of full DX9, volumetric (sp?) clouds, etc.

You guys aren’t dreaming big enough. Imagine WOFF UE/ROF. WOFF goodness in ROF engine. You don’t even have to redo all the planes.

The CFS2 engine is basically the same vintage as the Il-2 1946 engine, you'd be taking a step sideways, not forward.

You guys aren’t dreaming big enough. Imagine WOFF UE/ROF. WOFF goodness in ROF engine. You don’t even have to redo all the planes. Then I would go for one step further the BoX FC, it does contain the directX11, 64bit and VR But yeah let us dream, :-) Sure, but BoX isn't going to open their code to allow OBD to do that unless they strike some kind of a licensing agreement and I have serious doubts that will ever occur. In an ideal world, that could be awesome. BoX gets a serious WWI flight sim component and OBD brings WOFF UE into 2018 technology. With the exception of the potential nightmare of dealing with 777 management, the final product certainly would be amazing. The reason I mentioned IL-2 1946 was because it's already open to modding, it doesn't have a good WWI component and it still has some nice advancements such as full DX9 and 3D clouds. (This is all just for fun, guys. It certainly wouldn't be worth the effort for OBD to do this)

Better ask for WOFF UE4 edition Speaking of which, here is Project Wingman, a work of one man (if I understand it correctly). It is arcadey Ace Combat style game, but it looks quite good.
