Couple more concert clips, always loved Ritchie Blackmore, Blackmore's Rainbow was first band I ever went to see back in 1977 or 78 ... amazing days with Ronnie James Dio and Cozy Powell in the band, always thought Blackmore/Dio/Powell were a power trio of rock musicians who could do no wrong ... sadly two of them have passed on now, was immense pleasure to see them live together back in the good old days.
Amazingly and after Ritchie's venture into Renaissance music with Candice, it was rumoured late 2015 he might return to hard rock again, sure enough 2016, 2 German shows and one show at Birmingham UK ... managed to get tickets for the Birmingham UK show, the atmosphere was electric leading up to and going to the show ... could he still pull it off we all wondered? For a 70+ year old guy I think he did, but is obviously past his halycon days prime, glad I went
This year (2017) got tickets for his show nearer home in Glasgow Scotland, will post those clips in a bit and my thoughts on the differences to last years show ... there were many!
PS: sorry for shaky cam ETC, was my old bridge cam I used to sneak into gigs, use more suitable concert camera equipment now these days.
Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow doing Man on the Silver Mountain this year at Glasgow Hydro, have some more clips to upload still, its been a busy year.
Blackmore was more in his stride this year, much more confident, he's always been an extreme extrovert though and loves to show off, he played much better too, some of the slower Rainbow/Purple stuff he did live was just sublime, really was.
I pretty much stopped liking Rainbow after Dio left because IMO none of the later singers were worth a damn, but man! some of the songs on the albums with Dio were absolutely amazing (especially Man on the Silver Mountain, Temple of the King, Stargazer, and Gates of Babylon.)
