Just watched the trailer and I found this synopsis on the plot: "Alita is a creation from an age of despair. Found by the mysterious Dr. Ido while trolling for cyborg parts, Alita becomes a lethal, dangerous being. She cannot remember who she is, or where she came from. But to Dr. Ido, the truth is all too clear. She is the one being who can break the cycle of death and destruction left behind from Tiphares. But to accomplish her true purpose, she must fight and kill. And that is where Alita's true significance comes to bear. She is an angel from heaven. She is an angel of death." Sounds like the "Matrix" and "Ghost in the Shell" all rolled into one.

That's what our culture gets for always white washing history - in this case, fictional history. Look who is playing the "mysterious Dr Ido" - none other than an Austrian! Oh well, at least they didn't all squint and wear buck teeth like Mickey Rooney.

The director is Robert Rodriguez so that might explain why a Hispanic actress got the lead role.
I don't want to be too pessimistic but I wouldn't be surprised if this bombs like Ghost in the Shell did. This has got be better then Ghost in Shell. I will watch it when it comes out. Could not even finish watching Ghost in the Shell it was so bad.

This has got be better then Ghost in Shell. I will watch it when it comes out. Could not even finish watching Ghost in the Shell it was so bad.
I went to see that with a friend and we both hated it. We both sat through the entire movie not wanting to spoil it for the other one by leaving. It was only after we got outside that we both mentioned that we hated it and could have left loooooong before the credits rolled. Wheels

GitS is much better the second time. It was hard to keep up with the first viewing, at least for me. I like it well enough.
This one seems like yet another little girl kicking big ass movie, something that’s getting old. I know, that’s the anime influence.
