And what makes this even worse is that he really was in the military. He should know better.

PM I frequent a Viet Nam vets face book page and there are plenty of posts about phoneys and some did serve but blow up their experiences to look more heroic so to speak....It's something I encountered when I came home and decided to join the VFW and got my balls busted by the guys who were in the "Big One" until an old Marine vet told me "The ones talking the loudest never saw combat ignore the a*****es ,,All I've ever told anyone is I served and that's enough Unless it's another Marine then we can talk Is it the Vietnam Veterans photo club?
The issue is not p*ssy. The issue is monkey.

If I were to fake up military service, I'd go about it completely different. Wear SGT (three stripes) rank. Put on some jump wings, air assault wings, and load up with the campaign ribbons in a credible time frame. Want to get fancy? Throw on a Meritorious Service Medal above a couple ARCOMS. Unusual, but not impossible. Put on a 101st patch. Put one on both sides if that makes you feel better. Wear a glider patch on a garrison cap. Blouse jump boots. Wear Chaplain Assistant branch insignia.Nobody can call you out, as nobody knows who the hell the Chaplain Assistant was in any unit, where they train, what they do, or even who they're really assigned to. Damned guys are invisible 99.98% of the time. "I'd like to tell you about my deployments, but like the Chaplain I can't really discuss it due to privacy concerns."
The opinions of this poster are largely based on facts and portray a possible version of the actual events. More dumb stuff at http://www.darts-page.comFrom Laser: "The forum is the place where combat (real time) flight simulator fans come to play turn based strategy combat."

if asked, I try to make certain I am understood to be a Viet Nam ERA vet, who spent his enlistment on Lake Superior, never in combat. My Dad was a veterans service officer so I spent lots of time around veterans at Legion meetings, and only rarely hear war stories that sounded like they enjoyed it.

I used to work with a lady who often mentioned her father was a "Vietnam vet". Once I asked her, innocently, what her father did in Vietnam. She said "Oh he was actually in Germany".
