It looks good but it’s a toss up right now on how this will be received by audiences. It’s not a sequel and it’s based on a book that really only hardcore sci-fi fans are familiar with.

“Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster. And if you gaze long enough into an abyss, the abyss will gaze back into you.”

I just looked it up. The novel came out in 2011. Now that's what I call a very fast turnaround from novel to film adaptation. You figure the movie was in development for at least 2 or 3 years so the rights to the novel were acquired very soon after the novel was a hit in book stores.

Looks fun, I will watch it when it comes out. Love the trailer home stacks.

I loved the book. I've usually had great experiences in treating books I've read as companion pieces to the movies that follow them as opposed to having too many expectations for exact replication (or vice versa as in the Harry Potter series which I watched first and then read). Favorite examples are 2001: A Space Odyssey and Dune (Arthur C. Clarke/Stanley Kubrik and Frank Herbert/David Lynch respectively).

The issue is not p*ssy. The issue is monkey.

I couldn't stand the book. Way too much exposition and reminiscing in the first few chapters so I stopped reading. It seemed to take forever before the plot moved forward. Way more telling than showing was my impression. Maybe it improved later on?
