Over ground targets a * appears between 10 and 5 KM, bellow I use the "eyeball Mk.I" - for avoid shoot in the * instead in the truck. smile

I hate labels, but need use this custom labels with Mi-21 in ground attack on Caucasus map because without this help is almost impossible see ground targets.

Thank you for that. I hate labels too but in VR thay are really necessary. I havent got the colour quite right yet its hard to find a good balance.

One of my major annoyances with the sim. I don't like seeing words flying around, but I have no choice. I have a button on my joystick for "Labels, on/off." I have them on until I can see the targets, be they a/c or ground, then turn them off. Have to. The AI can sure see you with no trouble at all.

It is bad game design that makes you choose between playing properly and being reasonably effective.

To be fair though, even the professional combat sims have this problem. Basically IRL is way higher resolution than our screens (even 4K, I can personally attest) can muster. At the rate of current tech, we're probably ~10 years out from VR at resolutions that max out the human eyes ability to discern screen from reality.

That's why it's so frustrating they took this feature away; it was actually a serviceable compromise as we're a long ways out from a hardware solution.

Way back in FC 1 time there was dot system like in IL2 1946 and other old sim’s ,but they take it off in time about black shark 1... great thing to do but thats how ED thinks.

They sayed that it was unrealistic to use dot’s , so now we fly blind ... biggrin

More than 40 inch 4k monitor and you dont need to fly blind.

Wont help enough, allready tried that. Ground targets are still pain im butt biggrin

4k is far from human vision, sure it helps if we use zoom etc narrow fov.

But i prefer Oculus , cant go back to monitors anymore :/

Maybe ed should try IL bos , you can see targets and gauges just fine... but ED is blind to what it comes to gameplay biggrin

Falcon BMS is great, you see targets really fine, and dont need super hyper resolution monitor.

Way too well in Falcon. I can see fighter at same distance as radar, against clear sky.

Quite an exaggeration there.

Confusing and potentially misleading as you talk about Oculus (and hence, VR) and then say Falcon BMS is great..... but Falcon BMS does not do VR frown

Ok.

Yes, Falcon BMS wont support VR (yet) (my loss frown )

I just mean that smartscaling/dot system is very good in BMS. And i hope that DCS will get somekind smartscaling etc system in future.

No mater what display (vive, monitor ,rift , projector) is used in DCS, its hard to see s**t in ground and air targets are only marginal better.

Ok i take bit back. I can see dot soon as i can get lock with radar. Just small grey dot in middle of diamond. Does it ruin my experience? No it does not. I agree visibility is well made on Falcon BMS.
