Even real life is terrible with progressive lenses. LOL Well, I coudln't deal at least.
I actually liked this one in 3D, although I usually steer clear. It added to the scale of the ships and such nicely. Normally, I watch a movie and within a few minutes forget it's even in 3D, but this one I kept enjoying all the way through.

I think this might have had an extra meaning to real nerds - if I recall correctly they used salt to represent snow when shooting the Hoth miniature scenes.

I'll just C&P what I wrote in CH:

Saw it today.

Meh.

Actually got sleepy, had to squirm around in my seat to stay awake.

Yes the feminism was quite overt, as was the rich bashing, as was the stupid plot holes.

Bomb run on the "Dreadnought"? They don't have missiles? Bombs gravity fall in space? How could those bombers possibly be such slow space vehicles?

Why did Ms Purple Hair Super Admiral let so many transports get blasted before she finally did the suicide run? Why were the mono-ski attack things so slow??

Oh and white covered planet with slow approaching evil guys while rebels in trenches hold them off so other rebels in an underground base find a way to escape.... sound familiar??

Definitely some plot holes, they’re just best accepted just like in all SW movies.
I agree about the bombs and waiting about the ramming. They didn’t have to pilot manually to do that either, and could have taken similar action with the other ships to let them get away. Use autopilot, use a droid.
I don’t see the movie more feminist than all of the other ones. Leia was always pretty much in charge, as was Mon Mothma and Padme. No biggie IMO, it didn’t imply an agenda in the 70’s and I don’t see it as one now. Likewise, I don’t see Phasma being totally dominated again as sexist. She’s just a weak useless character.

Probably because what happened on the death planet bombing run in TFA, torpedoes were useless against the armor on the thermal oscillator. The dreadnaught was probably armored the same way and the only way is to crack it open with lots of bombs. A maglev system could launch the bombs out of the bombbay.

Because she didn't expect the imperials to see the cloaked transports and trying to weigh her options while helpless to defend them

The sandskiffs are rusted from 30 years of neglect.

Saw it again over the weekend. I noticed that when Luke projects himself that he looks younger. Shorter hair and beard, more color and less gray. Maybe that was meant to tip us off if you noticed the first go around.

I thought I saw that but I wasn't sure! Seemed like they showed his feet, then Kylo's and then his again. Kylo's disturbed the salt to show red and his didn't.
I wasn't sure 100% but I thought that was the case.

Leia Supermanning took us out of the movie totally. We all looked at each other and were 'ooooook...' felt like a really stupid scene. Should have had her die and be done with it.

Bought the Visual dictionary and the cross section edition for Last Jedi..The bombs are Magnetically charged to drop towards the Dreadnought.
Having Luke pass on while watching the Twin Suns was a good nod towards him in a New Hope,,
Also liked the inside joke of the "Coin Slots" on BB8..

Agreed. I know they just wanted to show that she was trained, but that was a bit much. Should’ve just gone with her injured but on ship and then used her breach later to establish it. But why was she trained but not a Jedi?
I thought she looked like the Statue of Liberty or ghost of Christmas Present or something.

I think maybe it was a nod to her actual death?

So Luke basically willed himself to death? Is that what happened?

Or maybe it was more like knowing the end is coming. Kind of like when you see a weather forecast - you don't "will" yourself to be cold just because you saw the prediction.

The issue is not p*ssy. The issue is monkey.

Overall I thought the movie was pretty good (yes I finally just saw it tonight) but the "Superman in space" scene with Leia I also found to be pretty cheesy.

I looked at it like he force projected himself across the galaxy, It's bound to take it out of an old Jedi.

Ok that makes sense to me.

Bah, he's a Jedi. I'm sure we'll see him again in the standard Jedi ghost mode. biggrin

Ben wasn’t killed by Vader, it was just the timing that made it seem so. He went on purposefully, as did Luke IMO. Yoda...who knows. He sure went fast if he was dying, so I suspect he went over willingly too.
Vader, I assume was friggin dead. He didn’t disappear right away like the others.

One thing that I never understood, if a Jedi master can come back as a ghost, why weren't they all hanging around at Empire top level meetings, heckling Papatine and his underlings all the time like Waldorf & Statler on steroids. Trolling them the whole time might be the most subversive method to undermine the Emperor's authority, and thus the most harmful operation against him. But maybe ole Palpy had a special anti-ghost screen around him or whatever. Dark and mysterious the way of the force is.
