There are only two or three songs on that list I don't know offhand and there isn't one of them on the list that I know that I don't really like.

I'm enjoying these songs as a loose musical genre, maybe not my favorite date night live music selection (wasn't bad at all, just lacked...tension[?]), but I can see myself chilling to them on a Sunday afternoon with the top down, if only I had a convertible...or a yacht. biggrin I'm still adding songs to my "Yacht Rock" playlist ("Dream Weaver", "I'm In You", "Rikki Don't Lose That Number").

It was a good time, just that my expectations were a little off. And as much as we're going to enjoy Ronnie Milsap in a couple of weeks (still hate that we're missing Chicago), I'm also really looking forward to seeing the Molly Ringwalds at the end of the month (it's been a while). "Separate Ways (Words Apart)", "Alone", "Saved By Zero", "You Shook Me All Night Long", "Keep On Loving You", "Sweet Child O' Mine", "Summer of '69", they almost always deliver that musical mojo I'm looking for. wink

Hi Mark G

Quite an old guy here now LOL, seen many of the original old rock acts over the years, Iron Maiden, Roger Waters and more to look fwd to in 2018 in UK, but yeah, enjoy a good Rock tribute act too.

We have a GnR and Thin Lizzy tribute band visit town in 2018, will be fun.

Have seen the original Pink Floyd live once at Earls Court, so awesome, since then have followed the Australian Pink Floyd show for a long time ... Brit Floyd spilt off from them, met Aussie Floyd several times, nice guys inc Damien from Brit Floyd formally Aussie Floyd ... bit of a knob, but he knows best, LOL.

Clip I took from Australian Pink Floyd this year at Glasgow Scotland Hydro arena 14th October.

And from 2016

Carefree, you just made my wife and I a *very* happy couple! smile Off to the track, I'll explain when I get back (it'll all make sense).

Ok, here's what happened <takes deep breath>...

About to head out, decide to check SimHQ before I leave and I see a post by Carefree mentioning Australian Pink Floyd/Brit Floyd.

You may remember we saw the Pink Floyd tribute band, Brit Floyd (spin-off of Australian Pink Floyd [as Carefree mentioned] - Damian Darlington and Ian Cattell wanting to tour N. America) in Houston, back in June, 2016...
Brit Floyd coming to North America!

Of all the cover and tribute bands we've seen since Dec. 2015 (all starting with the Molly Ringwalds after Rick Springfield in Oct.), Brit Floyd was the absolute best we've seen yet (as described in my thread).

They came back this year to the southern US (Houston again) in mid-June, but we had to miss it as the entire month was spent on my parent's house (getting to market and selling). I cannot tell you how disappointed we were. I occasionally check the Brit Floyd website but all 2018 US dates are in the northern US.

After seeing Carefree's posts I check again, but still no dice. Then it hit me!

==========
Conversation went something like this...

"Hey, what's our NYC dates again?" (16-day road trip, 8 of those in Manhattan).
"We'll be in NYC April 9th through the 16th."
"Eh, how would you like to see Brit Floyd at the Radio City Music Hall on the 10th?"
"REALLY??? ARE YOU KIDDING ME???!!!" <gets crazy excited when she realizes I'm not joking>

Almost like our conversation in 2016, only reversed! biggrin
==========

I got us decent seats too (aisle seats), about where the $60.00 rows start (in front of those are $80.00 seats [too much, IMO], tickets range from $40.00 to $220.00 [in the pit])...

[Linked Image]

Sooo...thank you Carefree for that unintentional heads up. cheers

Carefree, thanks for those excellent clips. We'd go see Australian Pink Floyd if they ever came to our neck of the world!

Thanks Mark, one more from the Aussie Floyd from Glasgow this year, honestly have met the band twice and when Dam played with them, but honestly mate, I found him to be a knob ... his talent on guitar is where he excels.

Massive Floyd fan here, me and mates do a trek down to Glasgow each year for the Aussie Floyd show, they are a very big tribute band now and book the Glasgow Hydro arena and fill it on a Saturday night with ease.

In the early Aussie Floyd days it was just a wee stage and glitter ball on top of a Marshall amp, really was, the band played at David Gilmours birthday party, talked with them on two separate years, but Dam was the only one who was rude and pretentious, he really was arrogant.

Mark ... I love Pink Floyd, have seen the real Pink Floyd of course, met the original Aussie Guys ... some have moved on now, but in 2018 I have tickets to go see Roger Waters at Glasgow ... Friday night, love all things Floyd and very excited about this.

Pulled another Aussie Floyd song to share with you, hope you like, for sure and after the 2018 Roger show I'll put some clips on here.

Very cool, Carefree. thumbsup

It's too bad Damian came off as such a jerk, what a bummer. But I gotta be honest, I've never had any real desire to meet anyone in person (including Rush). I just want them to do their jobs, to make their stage performance worthy of the tickets I paid for, and then to go home happy and awed. smile

I touched on this on my Brit Floyd thread, with a pic standing next to the meet-and-greet. Wife asked me if I wanted to get in line (maybe 20 min.?), but I was far more interested in going back to the hotel and continuing our date. wink Still, it was nice to get kind of a close-up pic of the greet which is all I wanted.

I need to go back to my Brit Floyd thread and include links for larger pics (before I knew how to work with attachments, eventually making only one larger) and then add "previous cover/tribute band threads" links to my first post (maybe clean those pics up too).

Enjoy Roger Waters, and I'll be sure to post some new Brit Floyd pics as part of my NYC thread in April (to also include a day on the Intrepid).

Thanks again Mark G from one music fan to another, The Australian Pink Floyd do play in North America, Canada too? I'm not sure, the band are constantly evolving ... I'd love to see Brit Floyd, they just need to play Britain a bit more, LOL.

Snap ... maybe not same Snap? Used to know a snappy from here who loved Rush, seen Rush live in Glasgow once, they were awesome, talking those old Cookie, Nibelung, Tim, Ray ETC days

We saw a lot of good shows this year, and 2018 is already looking very promising (starting with Brit Floyd in NYC this April). But what I *need* to end the year properly is a little slow dancing, and these guys are always just the ticket (video chosen for better quality audio)...

Last night's Molly Ringwalds show at L'auberge Casino had a few firsts:

1. First time they've used lasers (part of their latest visuals upgrade).
2. First time the Casino price was lowered to match the Varsity at $10.00 vs. $15.00 (was told they have a sweet deal with the Casino).
3. First time we've heard them play Journey's "Faithfully" (last song of regular set, and yeah, we and many others danced to it). The guitar (especially) nailed it better than the above 2015 video.
4. First time we left the phone/camera in the car at one of these shows (already have enough pics of this band).

All the walls of the Event Center were covered in black (not sure if permanent) which enhanced the new lighting visuals. Very, very nice. Afterwards we got coffee and desserts, then explored the Casino facilities (typical restaurants, bars, sandwich/coffee shop). Very nice place, even if you don't gamble (we don't, no interest). Hotel room rates still way too expensive though, especially on weekends (even more so during the holidays).

Ultimately last night was one of the best nights of my life (no TMI), my fears of turning 50 have been unfounded (hopefully I'll feel the same way about turning 60). wink Hope the Ringwalds keep it up for at least another 10 years. band

One more video, IMO a good representation of a closer (2014)...

^ Not bad, and I understand they're not trying to be a Rush tribute act. But a good Rush tribute band is what I'm waiting for, and I hope one comes to the Baton Rouge/New Orleans area before too much longer.

Bring on the 2112 kimonos! smile
