In the Balkans the pit is at it comes with the install; I think you're right it's a Jan Has's model. The pit in KTO is modded (textures only) by Buraktunahan. I installed it via JSMG, so I can return to stock with just a single click...

Thanks TG. When you get on the top with a lot of weather in the area and white cloud tops on the horizon is when the HUD problem is most apparent. It is for the most part sufficient in other situations.

I'll have to look into cockpit mods. BTW, most of my recent flights have been in the Israel Theater because flight times to appropriate targets can be very short for training purposes. I did compare HUDs in the same theater between versions. Going to have to look at some different theaters and see if maybe the stock HUD is different somehow..
