I was kind of hating night time & spending a lot of it sped up to 32x.
Last night I decided rather than waste 15 minutes at 32x & blinking & dying w/o seeing wtf happened, I figured I would try to learn a bit.

First I set up a bunch of flights to attack reds where needed, since I got no a2g radar skill yet I escort at night. I set up one to escort tanker for 2 hours,
this was cool cause then I just played with radar modes the whole time & listened & watched flights i sent off operate.

I also tried to start learning the FA/18. I know maybe 10-20% of the f-16 so I should focus but I took out a EFA/18 jammer plane & was an escort deep into red, no missiles came near us.

Anyway, what do people do around here at night? (in sim world, thx)

At night, I do the same thing that I would do during daylight hours...with less visibility! smile

I did one last night basically heads down to the MFDs & center instruments till landing.
I don't know ILS yet in this thing yet, there is only like a million things to learn & remember.

BTW is there ever any full moons at night. I have probably less than 10 days in 3 campaigns & i oly see the moon in the daytime.

+1 pretty much, though if I really think about it I'd say I do more strike missions, fewer interdictions at night. Daylight makes interdiction/CAS type missions a little easier sometimes. But overall like Schnidrman said I do the same things regardless of time of day.

I like flying at night.

No, now go away or I shall taunt you a second time!

NIght missions are fun! It's a change by not having to look outside and focusing more on INSIDE and your instruments.

As for trying the Hornet, it doesn't have accurate FM and obviously the avionics are tweaked F-16 so the only reason I'd try it is for carrier ops smile

I was waiting for The Night Stalker, A real cool TV show when I was a kid.

Anyway I have seen some full moons now. The campaign I am in now has moon rise about 3:30 AM and is seems like AAA gets a lot more dangerous as soon as they can see you. Seriously, I figured all of the modern AAA was radar controlled. Why does a bright moon seems to make life much more dangerous?

I am still practicing A2A radar modes & RWS & TWS basics are all I got so far. So real long escorts at night are a time to switch the radar modes & watch & try to take notes & remember.
The campaign I am in now, it is 4:30am Day 4. I am a Captain and have about a 3 to 1 kill ratio.
I also have about 190 hours since late Sept. and 4 kills of blue.

The main thing I do at night is create my own missions for A-10 & the attack helis then create a BARCAP for me to watch them. Day or night this is a good way to kill time if no good missions exist anywhere else.

I am also gonna try following some B1s with the EA-18. I saw a B-1 get shot down deep over enemy lines so a jambing escort with missiles may help.
