For me, what hurts DCS is the damage model. To shoot the hell out of someone and have them chase you down and kill you while pouring black smoke....well it sucks. BOS has a much better model. I like the full cockpits of DCS. Being a retired pilot I still enjoy the idea of checklist and cockpit flows to get your plane going.
I like the flight modelling in DCS a little better and the ground handling, sometimes BOS feels like it is wintertime all the time when taxiing (it seems too easy to ground loop like you are on ice all the time).
I like the 50's in BOS, they seem to do a more realistic damage. An ex P-47 pilot I use to fly DC-3's with told me about being able to spin a boxcar off the tracks with his 8 50's at 300 yards.
For the jets I do enjoy DCS, not just for the combat but for the other aspects of flying (navigation, instrument approaches, night flight, etc.). I do like returning from a mission and having to conduct and instrument approach, breaking out and seeing the approach lights that gives you a warm fuzzy.
I'm looking forward to both DCS and BOS future developments. I'm hopeful that these issues will be worked out.

It seems like the BoX guys are doing well and capitalizing on what could be a big missed opportunity for ED. BoX is becoming for WWII (IMHO) what FC3 could have/should have been for 4th Gen jet fighters. We could have FC: Desert Storm, FC: Falklands, FC: Lebanon 1982, etc…. They could keep leveraging some of the base plane set, but add a few new aircraft and variants along with a new theater for each release.
But, it was not meant to be…

Instead of paying 50 to 60 bucks for a single plane, for a few dollars more you're getting 8 planes, a map that includes three countries, campaigns ...etc. That is crazy... at first I didn't notice that Battle of Bodenplatte includes ALL of the planes promised in DCS WWII and them some! I truly enjoy both sims, each one more so for different reasons, so they'll both continue to compete for my time.

The thing about 1c and their pre purchase is there is no "everything is subject to change" you're going to get everything over a year. Once a plane is ready its released. You can fly it in MP, depending on the mission of course, on any map. You dont need BoS to fly on the Stalingrad map in MP. The contrast between the two developers is mind boggling. Its night and day. Its surprising that folk allow ED to get away with it by continuing to purchase their unfinished wares. If ED dont sit up and take notice of this, because folk are going to put 2 and 2 together, its going to impact sales/customers for all their content. Their reputation as a company that DOESN'T get things done will increase.
DCS Kickstarter Wags July 2014 "In this July 2014 update, the primary news is in regards to the restructured backer rewards. After a careful review of the older system under RRG, we found it financially unattainable." Wags October 2017 "the investment vs. generated revenue has been excellent for the World War II aircraft. In fact, the P-51D Mustang has twice the cost effectiveness of the A-10C Warthog."

I hate to say it, but it's kind of a no-brainer. Instead of paying 50 to 60 bucks for a single plane, for a few dollars more you're getting 8 planes, a map that includes three countries, campaigns ...etc. I can do without clickable cockpits. That's my feeling too. There was a point in time not too long ago when I would not have given 1CGS any more of my money but things have changed and what they are planning looks good to me. A P-47 and a Tempest? Yes please!

I suppose any new info about another "sim" getting delevoleped is very good news indeed, especially for those of us that like these type of games. 1CGS now seems to be a totally different entity from a few years ago when BoS was getting made, releashed and then the backlash post launch. For the price there asking either for premium or standard versions is very reasonable IMO, will be pre-purchasing asap "finances permitting" of course. I think a new type of campaign is to be released pretty soon which, if I'm correct will replace the one they have now and will be available across the board, eg, for all the BoX series. This is the thing I'm looking forward to most, with some kind of pilots logbook to keep tags on your virtual pilot. (anyone with more info on this please do tell). Mick.

Yes, big update planned for December, which works for all versions. There are sales a few times a year, where it's easy to pick up BoS and BoM at quite a discount.
