Didn't they buy the rights to the game engine (around april th is year) which got them access to the source code so they can release their Fusion mod as a stand alone/DLC?

https://il2sturmovik.com/news/271/1c-game-studios-cooperate-team-fusion-il-2-sturmov/

maybe, "own" isnt the right word but they have an agreement with 1C about it. They are the only ones working on CloD with the current IL2 BoX team having nothing to do with CloD.

TF and 1C/777 are totally different self contained teams working independently. With their own project plans.

Yes TF have access to the code of CloD and it was 1C that gave that access and may be advising, but CloD and BoX are completely different sim engines.

just not sure how you can speak with authority on the subject of TFS

No, CLoD was never attached to this version of IL2 and is now owned by the team fusion mod team.

CloD engine is property of 1C, that early in this year decide allow Team Fusion officially use this code, under agreement and make future DLC - to be commercialized under 1C management.

That is the way I thought the relationship works, thus my concern.

Given that you know how TFS is structured, what are your concerns that what 777 are doing will have an adverse effect of CloD ?

They are 2 independent teams, how would what 1C/777 are doing with BoX affect what TFS are doing with CloD.

I suppose the crunch time will come just over a year from now, when both Bodenplatte and TF5 will be released. Not forgetting ROF II, which should be epic. Of course by then the BoX devs will have already said what their next release will be after Bodenplatte. Much as I love Cliffs, the pace of development is just too damn slow.

Don’t forget the tank sim. PTO was too tough but juggling multiple development tracks is np. Where are those resources that could not be allocated to a PTO going to come from?

Good question Frogyy2, one could easily think Jason isn't really in charge but as a producer he needs to produce what those actually in charge decide to put on the market.

How the 1C/TFS relationship works idk. More importantly, I do not pretend to know. For sure however a PTO would represent an incredibly poor mesh with other offerings, either current or proposed and so I think was a fantasy from the start. For the foreseeable future buyers need reason to buy existing dlc. Expect a Battle of Berlin.

Well, I don't have the Russian Front sims, but aren't the tanks already there? It would just be a matter of giving them interiors. And for Bodenplatte, the German planes are already flying in the other sims. So is the Spitfire 9. The terrains can't be all that different from the Russian scenery they've gotten so good at building. They can probably knock that stuff out with their eyes closed. I can see why they'd take the easier route, right now, to get more stuff out to the public. With the Pacific, you're really starting from scratch. The ocean, ships, jungles. A entirely new plane set , of which not a single aircraft has ever been done by them. I'll tell you the truth, I'm kind of excited about this. I've never been completely happy with any P-47 that I've had in a combat flight simulator. I'm really looking forward to that. And I've been tempted to jump into the Ii-2 world every time you guys show those screen shots. This one is gonna do it for me, I think. I, for one, am not unhappy with the move.

Yea, the tanks are already in and are fun to drive but they dont have multicrew and they use a HP system and just explode. There is no advanced damage model like the planes have. Im not sure how much work it would be to get then up to plane fidelity but probably not THAT much more since most of the groundwork is already in engine. The big thing would be creating an atmosphere where the tanks are worth playing and fun. I really hope they allow the boats too at some point and when the PTO comes out allow setting waypoints for the ships and manning the aa guns etc.

I'm liking the direction this sim is going (and am still looking forward to the Pacific) and actually would also have enjoyed some heavy bomber action from 43/'44' with B-17's, Lancs, Liberators, escorts, defenders (day and night fighters). Will likely preorder Bodenplatte once pre-orders hit Steam as I like what I've played in BoS/BoM lately. I have just recently returned to playing it (since late August) and have been enjoying it way more now than when BoS was first released.

Preordering.

These guys have always delivered on time and what they promised. Their early attitudes with dissent and questioning was dumb, but they seem to be listening to the community now.

And love the idea of a bit of late war tempest action.

I'll tell you something... the sound of a Sabre engine is very distinctive and unique. It will be interesting to hear what they come up with smile

Yeah, I'm thinking that when my wife says, "So, what do you want for Christmas?" I'll tell her to preorder this for me. Better than something I'm never going to use, or wear.

I pre-ordered as well, Bodenplatte and the two collector planes to show my support.
I am not real excited about the tanks that will eventually be coming, I do look forward to flying some of the ROF planes in VR though - good to see them get some love.

I am very disappointed in the the lack of a PTO sim. I will probably still purchase Bodenplatte at some point (always rather fly for the Allies than the Germans or Russians), but the WWI and tank sim are not that interesting too me. Despite buying the complete ROF, I just could never get in to WWI flying that much.

Ordered Bodenplatte and the two new bonus planes. It’ll be right around the area where I learned to fly, Southern Netherland and Belgium. Also got the Ju52, somehow never got arround doing that. Gotto finance these guys so they can built us more toys. PTO is just delayed so no biggie there. Hopefully they make it PTO with carriers and an Island campaign like Guadalcanal. With the P38, P39, P40, P47 and P51 they only have to make the Navy birds and the Japanese opposition. I would’ve bought the ROF update also just for the VR alone. They’ve been moving in the right direction here evere since they got rid of the wobbly AI flight models a while ago. Also, the later PTO arrives the more computer power we’ll have to support life like ground crews on the ships. This is now one of the games I show VR off. Put someone in the open cockpit of the Rata and they’re in awe. Even folks that have no intrest in aviation get a kick out of it.

Only. HooBoy! Big job. The P-47, P51 and P-38L will have no place in either a Midway or 'Canal sim. American and Japanese naval aircraft, warships, jungle terrain, and let's not forget The Pacific Ocean all need to be built. You won't see this 'til late 2019. If that. But I'm getting my Thunderbolt. And I just know it's go it's going to beautiful. I'm not unhappy.
