Current price is around $47.00 per share ....about the same retail price as a good new game. Make some money with this ETF and use some of that money to buy more games. That's called "leveraging" your money.

Also ....I'd sit and wait a bit for now until a good market correction comes (it may not be very far off at this point) and buy the stock for even less when it drops cheers

Don’t oversimplify the economic markets. Yes, there should be a correction. But when? You can sit on the sidelines and miss growth if you are waiting for something just because “it’s due”. And on the other hand :

You would have to buy the equivalent of quite a few games to make that a worthwhile investment. Btw, I have owned ATVI for many years at a return of around 600%.

I agree with Goldman ....2018 should be a good year for stocks .....however, a correction in December or 1st quarter into 2018 is a real possibility

ATVI is also on the top 10 holdings for that ETF but the reason i didn't list that is that not everyone at SimHQ knows enough about stocks to take the risk with an individual company

As long as there is an article every day warning the markets should crash, I'll keep buying.

each of us does what they can with whatever resources we gain along the way

I'm convinced there will always be someone writing about a coming crash in any month of the year

Nah see that's what contrarian investing is all about. When the news is shouting, "Everyone get in quick and buy! The market is on fire!"

-That's when you sell. Take profits, reduce risk, prepare for the laggards final push to the top before it all comes down. Smart money knows that's a sell signal.-

When you see the news saying, "Markets are way too high, the prices are insane. Only an idiot would buy here. We're gonna have a crash."

-That's when you keep buying.-

When you see a little of both, but no more of one than the other, markets are probably going to keep plodding slowly upward. Buy dividends and yield, pepper in some hot names, and keep searching for value in individual company dips.

Sounds like way too much of a headache for me :-P
I prefer to burn money away, not particularly on games though. I could get hit hard by a bus tomorrow, or maybe eaten by a crocodile.

Cheers,
Slug

GE has really been pounded. Lots of issues to work out. But for a long term hold, its golden. Tons of cash, huge company. Long term as in 20 years. Buy it for your kids or grandkids.

Agree GE is a good buy, as a long term stock. Right now it is being driven down, but it is a very stable company tied up with many of the most important technologies we use today.

Boeing's airplanes rely very heavily on GE engines and there is no competition in sight.

I wouldn't touch GE for a while. Let things cool off and the company get things in order before venturing into their shares again. Better to miss the bottom than try and catch a falling knife.

On a related note. This article does make a strong case for the micro-transactions.

CNBC can go #%&*$# itself.

They dont even understand the basic concepts involved. EA is falsely extending the hours REQUIRED to play to earn the gear. They didnt CREATE more hours of interesting gameplay they FORCED more hours of boring gameplay in order to frustrate people to buy shortcuts.

I will agree that gaming CAN be a very cost effective entertainment method. A 60 dollar game that gives you 60 hours of gameplay is a dollar an hour. But the problem is that EA didnt do that. The SP campaign is only a handful of hours long and full of bugs. it is mostly incomplete. Even the online game doesnt have that much content. They just falsely extended the gameplay by requiring time locked unlocks. This game is everything that is wrong with pay 2 win.

Even if they raise prices I'll still wait for the games to go on sale for cheap on Steam before I buy them, with one exception being niche multiplayer games which must be bought on day one before the population dwindles.
