777/1c just announced Battle of Bodenplatte which will include all the aircraft that are included with DCS WW2. Without doubt they will release the full package before the jokers at ED can get their final aircraft into beta. With the abysmal performance of the normandy map and the drip drip drip of development this will pretty much kill any future sales of the DCS P47, ME262 and whatever they decide to charge for in that theatre. Which to me will mean development will grind to a halt as there is very little reward to be had from continued development. Also 777/1c moving into jet aircraft ,262 and one of the devs expressing interest in a korea theatre in the future what will that mean for those players frustrsted with a lack of proper theatre for the mig15 and sabre?

DCS Kickstarter
Wags July 2014 "In this July 2014 update, the primary news is in regards to the restructured backer rewards. After a careful review of the older system under RRG, we found it financially unattainable."
Wags October 2017 "the investment vs. generated revenue has been excellent for the World War II aircraft. In fact, the P-51D Mustang has twice the cost effectiveness of the A-10C Warthog."

For the folks that insist on a clickable cockpit...777 won't get them there. That might be ED's only hope for the WWII birds.

instead of me supporting a developer that does not give a sh1t about my work maybe it is time to move to another one ... a thought well worth considering seriously.

Yeah me to, I've just been looking at it. I think the P-38, P-47 and Me-262 will be cool.. actually all of the planned planes are cool!

I hate to say it, but it's kind of a no-brainer. Instead of paying 50 to 60 bucks for a single plane, for a few dollars more you're getting 8 planes, a map that includes three countries, campaigns ...etc. I can do without clickable cockpits. And from the screenshots I've seen of the Russian Front stuff, it's going to be beautiful. I'm considering doing something that I NEVER do. I just may pre-order. I'll keep DCS for my F-86. I love that jet. But for WW2, I'm movin'.

No arguement there. 777/1C produces some very good looking products and a clickable cockpit is certainly not needed to get the feel of combat flight. ROF was my first introduction to flight sims (aside from some Janes back in the day) and I have always enjoyed my time with it. Even though the aircraft fly only slightly faster than a car.

Wow. DCS WWII just got owned. After none of the previous planesets in the new IL2 series appealed to me, this new one is almost like I hand picked the plane set and theater.

I doubt that. If i had not backed EDs kickstarter i would have no interest in buying the remaining planned aircraft as 777 are now planning to develop them. I doubt im the only one who feels this way. Like pooch says you're goung to get a whole lot more for your 777 money. ED have been blown out of the water here. Theyve been developing this sh1t show for too many years and still no clear sign of completion. Nobody is going to buy their p47, 262. Their WW2 theatre is buy the map, buy the aircraft, buy the assets. The total cost for map, assets, all 5 aircraft would get you pretty much everything 777 have produced for ww2. The comparison is staggering. We may well be still 2 years away from the 262 and p47. ED are going to have to rush this out to get as much profit as possible or they will be too late. Its game over man, game over.
Edit
ED are lucky a studio like 777 are not doing modern aircraft. They would disappear without trace.
"You remember DCS?"

I once thought DCS was the future of flight sims, it's not. After backing the kickstarter, it's pretty much dead to me now, not even fired it up for months. DCS should stick to jets, and if BoX ever do Korea they will kill that too. I pretty much only fly the MiG 15 in DCS. I would much rather fly it in BoX.

I am not giving up completely - but I dedicated almost all of this year to DCS at the expense of P3D and I regret having done so.

Indeed this should force Wags to do atleast some kind of counter move, be it FC3-style WW2 birds or even better drop the WW2 and focus of Korea/ColdWar era aircrafts.

At the same time he needs to have a look at the excessive details expected into DCS modules and think twice if a module taking 5 to 12 years to complete ever will be the foundation of financial success.

At this pace ED will soon need more time than the actual manufacturors needed to develop the real thing.

Something tells me he will keep on trucking inside his universe well unaware of what is going on outside his very well protected Stasi-forums.

Just look at that $70 pricetag of the AV8B, laughable at best.

The day DCS World match the details of modules, with well simulated ECM and AI and ATC and missile and boms (maybe blast effects one day?) and capacity to cope with more than 12 ai aicrafts/groundvehicles I might pay their price but until then, GFU.

Where does Cliffs of Dover fit into the install path?

Or does it not when you say that BoS is the first IL-2?

Dover is the true IL2 of the two, and the last installement of that series (Oleg series).

Due to 1C owning the il-2 sturmovik name the first "Rise of Flight 1943" got the IL-2 name and shoved its rep down the drain but true, IL-2 Battle of Stalingrad is the first in this all new IL-2 iteration based on RoF game engine.

Some similarities to how Codemuppets owned and reused "Operation Flashpoint" on their new title also insulting the long term OFP players and losing the user base that soon went with Bohemias ArmA series (Bohemia being the actual creators of Operation Flashpoint).

Aha - thank you for the explanation, Oden.

Missed this saga completely. Are Rise of Flight and 1C partners in all of this or have Rise of Flight taken over completely and moved into WWII?

1C and 777 (RoF developer) joined up in something called 1CGS making a RoF based WW2 sim,
On the Dover side some private guys kept improving IL Dover, and they (Team Fusion) just recently got a deal with 1C to access source code and are now in final stages of releasing a fixed IL2 Dover as TF 4.5 which will be free via Steam and already started is a North African adventure from them (Tobruk area) that will be a paid title on Steam soon after.

Personally I look very much forward to this future Team Fusion creation flying Tomahawks, Martlet's and cannon equipped Hurricanes all over Tobruk (most probably getting shot down as I always are in propeller-nose machines - should stay in Korea with my F-16C I guess).

As well.

I still remember walking into an Incredible Connection store in 2001 and seeing IL-2 Sturmovik playing on a PC and instantly being transfixed by the spectacle, so much so that when I got my first PC 4 years later it was the first title I bought. Thoroughly enjoyed it and still remember shooting down my first 109 in the flying tank........

That's what started it all for me, the good old IL-2.

Tried CoD at release and remember it being an absolute disaster and never been back since. Seems like a revisit is definitely on the cards.
