I hate the finger jabbing thing too. Anytime I need an IV or have to get a blood test, it is an adventure finding a vein (and then not having it "blow out"). I got stuck four times today before they finally got one. It has always been my understanding that once you have had cancer and chemo, you couldn't give blood. I started donating after 5 years of being cancer-free. That is the cut-off around here. I usually give them a heads up that my veins roll because of the chemo, and there is scar tissue in the usual spot on the inside of the elbow. (What's that called?)

Thanks guys, yes I guess doing 42nd pints at once would make you a little dizzy eh?
I'll share one thing that is cool about donating blood. There have been a few times that within a few days after donating, I received an email that my blood was on its way to the hospital for a transfusion. That is one of the coolest feelings in the world, knowing that so soon my blood was needed somewhere.

I usually give them a heads up that my veins roll because of the chemo... Mmmmm... I had not thought of that. I've always had great veins, no one has ever had any problem drawing blood etc., until my colonoscopy about a month ago. They were trying to start an IV and it took 2 nurses 3-4 tries.

I bet! You’ve done your part. Donated a knee or two a while back didn’t you? Yes, donated a knee in 2015, I'm back to jumping out of airplanes...I'd a damn fool...I know there is a price to pay for my lifestyle and I'm going to pay for it in spades.

Keeping at it, this week was the first I could go back after the last double red. Not so bad this time, I prepared better with breakfast this time. Next visit in mid-June. I plan to get in all 3 donations this year.

Used yo when i lived in New England but here they ask are you a /veteran and have you been exposed to agent orange and yes and still have rashes on the back of my neck so they refuse me,,My blood was fine before but no good now There have been other groups that were allowed to give blood until newer tests showed that it wasn't such a good idea to include them. I have in the past, but now am on medication for Parkinson's disease and doubt they would accept it.
