I’m officially old. Well, I’ve said that for at least a decade so I guess it’s obvious. But: Want to know how you get a bunch of people killed? Put them in a street legal car that does a quarter mile in 9.65 and 0-60 in 2.3 seconds. https://www.dodge.com/demon.htmlAs a lawyer, I suppose I should relish this as a business opportunity. However, this is just nuts. This thing, in the legal sense, is unreasonably dangerous and inherently unsafe from the get go.

Somewhere there is a 16 year old about to get one for Christmas. What could possibly go wrong.
It is pretty cool though.

I notice you don't have a link to the Tesla website...they can do 0-60 in 2.3 seconds as well. They have been quicker than about all Detroit muscle cars before the Demon came out. I'm guessing they get a pass because of the cultural differences of the people buying them?

Eh, it's still got bumpers, side impact beams, seat belts, air bags, crumple zones... That's practically bubble wrap compared to stupid kids that don't respect motorcycles properly. Plus, they gravitate to sport bikes that are just as fast and only cost a few thousand.

I'm not anywhere near as concerned about the people driving them as I am for the other people around them. At least the motorcycle with that kind of number is going to kill himself only.... I can imagine some rich kid getting this thing for his birthday. I don't want to be anywhere near the street that day.
I mean, my Mustang will do a 12 flat quarter mile, and that's pretty salty for that car. But I won't do it unless I'm at the track. Some fool is going to run that thing down a side street and kill himself and three or four of his best friends on homecoming. Then his parents will wonder where they went wrong.
Force, I don't know any Tesla owners, honestly. I also don't know what the "Tesla culture" is.... Is it like New York or something?
Anyway, I doubt a Tesla can do a 9.6 quarter mile. That's the number that's frightening.
EDIT: The fastest Tesla I just saw on 1/4 mile was like 10.5. That's a big difference. Also, I think that's around a $150,000 car. And....I don't think there are going to be a rash of teenagers running out to get a Tesla (I guess if that's what you mean by cultural differences).
Personally, you wouldn't catch me dead in a Tesla. I like the idea. But I also like the fun of a good old fashioned muscle car. A Tesla is about as "automobile" as a C130 is a stealth fighter. But, yeah, if Teslas are on the road doing that, then that's just as nuts.

A friend of mine bought a 2017 Z06 Corvette a few weeks back, it will do 0-60 in less than 3 seconds. He actually let me drive it and I can honestly say that I would loose my license (or worse) within 6 months if it were mine.

The Demon costs 90k...I don't really know of too many teens that have 90 thousand to spend on a car. I think both vehicles are in the same group (have to be rich to buy one).

Can’t have too much horsepower.
Good people sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.
Someday your life will flash in front of your eyes. Make sure it is worth watching.

Testing to see if technical problem has been fixed.

Sure can have too much if the vehicle can't turn.
There was only 16 squadrons of RAF fighters that used 100 octane during the BoB. The Fw190A could not fly with the outer cannon removed. There was no Fw190A-8s flying with the JGs in 1945.

That will be a $120k or more car, my friend got his Z06 for "only" $97k.

Sure can have too much if the vehicle can't turn. If you cannot brake while airborne, steering isn't much of a priority.

Falstar, they have limits on class, I believe, because the idea is to have classes, with the cars in whatever class, say stock, super stock, etc. subject to limits which in theory in the end make it so winning or losing depends on the driver. (Ie at the limits of the class)
I’m not a drag racer other than for fun (as in how you go to the track and race on open days) so it’s possible I’m not giving the full “NHRA” answer.
