Saw the same three. None lived up to expectations, but Blade Runner was the best. The only one I regretted spending the money on was Alien. I expect Justice League and Star Wars to bring it big time and to be the best movies of the yearly.

Life, at least it was better than alien convenant even if a generic clone.
Alien: convenient is good if you read it as documentary of what not to do.
Spider-Man: Homecoming, funny and shows what people will do if they get their hands on alien tech.
War for the planet of the apes, decent watch of you like the previous "Dawn of the planet of the apes".
Transformers, the last knight; Bay took everything that worked with the previous four, "the robots fighting", and replaced it with a non-sense plot which shows transformers at every point in history.

So which new sci-fi films have you seen so far this year and what did you think of each one? By "new" I mean any scifi film that was released this year.
Here is my list:
Blade Runner 2049: Absolutely great and a very worthy sequel to the original film.
Alien Covenant: Really disappointed with this one. Even Michael Fassbender's great performance and the wonderful use of Richard Wagner's music couldn't save it.
Guardians of the Galaxy 2: Really well done and a worthy sequel to the first film. I really liked the addition of Kurt Russell. He was fantastic!
Agree with your first two but I was a little disappointed with GOTG2. It seemed to lack the charm of the first.

Yup,I thought GOTG2 was mediocre. Very disappointing after the 1st.
I really liked Alien Covenant if you don't think about it too much.

I liked: The Arrival: great intelligent storytelling. Blade Runner 2049: very good, and let's face it could have been terrible.
Did not like: Alien Covenant: stupid things happening and diminishes the lore further IMO. Turning into a TV mini-series.

Not seen Blade Runner 2049 yet, looking forward to it. Probably won't see Alien Covenant. Arrival - awful, so much less than the short story it was based on. Classic Hollywood dumbing down. Couldn't be bothered to watch it to the end. Dreadful. (IMHO)
