I posted a similar thread some time ago, maybe last year, about the rate of speed for AI aircraft. I flew a mission from St. Pol - sur - Mer to FF463. A 47 mile trip, flying an N10. The flight members were in N11's, except for the wingman, who was also in an N10. By the time I got to the Lys river, they were all so far ahead, even the N10, I couldn't see them even when using the label button. By the time I got to the front, they were already engaged in a fight with two Aviatik CI's.
Is there any way to configure the airspeed so that all planes in a formation, fly at the same speed?

Thanks

I did have the same experience, while flying the Lafayette in a N11 & N16 flight. Complete non historical I suppose.
Do not know if this can be fixed using the mission editor, but if not, this could be an great subject for the modders while this is always the same when flying an combination of different planes.

This doesn't answer your question but I just fly ahead of everybody else, get near the lines and wait. I think the AI is a better and more efficient pilot thus the reason they tend to get away. I do this with balloon busting missions, too! The squad mates spend a lot of time gaining altitude just to have to descend later so I just sneak over the lines and flame that gasbag by myself (usually)!

I know this isn't the answer you are looking for, but when this happens to me, I just go to autopilot and that will catch you up to the rest of the flight. I think like ARUP says, the AI are much more efficient pilots than humans are, after all, that is their only job.

Thanks for the reply's. I like the idea of flying out in front of everyone else to get to the patrol area first, but I'm afraid I'll miss something on the way. What gets me is, I'm flying at 100% throttle and the other N10 leaves me. If all N10's have the same specs, how is that possible?

Haley, make sure your auto mixture is set to “on”. If not and you are not leaning your mixture you will not keep up.

Open Mission Editor and select the waypoint segment after altitude. Then adjust the speed to all be the same for all other waypoints until landing. Do this for each pilot in your flight.

Thanks, MFair. My setting is switched to on. The N10 flies at 90mph at sea level, the N11 flies at 100mph at sea level. The N10 keeps up with the N11's.

Thank you, OldHat. I'll do that.

Once again, thanks for all your reply's.
