ad 2) WOFF (CFS3) checks each plane for presence of untrainable front gun. Planes without "solid" front guns (Fe-2b, Morane,...) are considered as bombers and play defensive role only :-(. Compare for example with Roland CII - two seater, but with solid front gun often behaves as a fighter.
Ha ha, yes, I found that out the hard way when as B-Flight leader piloting a Morane L, I tried to order my wingman to attack some Aviatik BI craft, but the message came back "Attack - must be a fighter"....heh heh, so much for that. Check it out at 1:35
