First ever AMD system. Micorcenter had a big sale the other day and I jumped on it.

Ryzen 1700x

Thermaltake Water 3.0 Extreme S cooler.

ASUS PRIME X370-PRO AM4 ATX

GSKILL 16GB 2X8GB DDR4 2400 KIT

And old ASUS GTX 760 OC 2GB

Crucial MX200 MLC 1Tb SSD

Runs at 3.9Ghz easy and cool too in my big Thermaltake midtower case that is made for the Water cooling system.

And I'm running Windows 7 64 Pro with a little program someone came up with to enable Win 7 updates after Microsoft thought they would screw over everyone with a RYZEN that did not want to jump on the Win 10 bandwagon.

You paid a lot, lot less than I did smile A good deal. Microcenter holds its own regarding deals.

Your 1700X is running only 0.1GHz less than my 1800X -- essentially identical. Never see or feel the difference.

I noticed that memory speed matters with Ryzen -- up to about 2400 or a bit more -- maybe 2667. It increases CPU speed in calculations and CPU benchmarks. So, you will get your money's worth running it at 2400 or a touch faster by OC with the AMD Ryzen Master application. Sometimes a BIOS memory voltage change is needed also (you may already know that).

Going from 2667 to 3000 did not add CPU speed in my system. I've not changed it in months -- so my information may not be up to date.

Enjoy smile

Yeah I did not try to OC the memory because Microcenter has several open packages of this same memory and I figure it's because it won't OC. It went to 3.9GHz with the ASUS desktop program and I ran it that way long enough to figure out it was not going to overheat so I went in the BIOS and did the changes there to get it to run at 3.9GHz and that's going to be fast enough.
