Me too, Steel Panthers was my very first wargame, and what led to 20 years of fascination with WW2. Quick anecdote...

My older brother introduced me to SP. At the time I knew nothing about WW2 aside from that it happened and the US fought Germany. So I start getting in to SP, and discover Matildas and Wolverines and Stuarts and so forth and so on. I also discovered the 88mm gun. I remember playing a desert scenario and tried shooting at the massed British armor spread out across the valley. It was an AA gun so I had little expectation.

Five minutes later two dozen British tanks lay smoking before me.

A few days later my brother and I play a hotseat game. I take the Germans and a battery of 88s, planning to hide them on a ridge and spring my newfound surprise on him. First turn he sends over a bomber who drops on my 88s and they are all destroyed. First turn! Haha, that taught me a valuable lesson about not putting your eggs in one basket and about the rock-paper-scissors aspect of modern warfare. No matter how effective or strong a unit is, there is always something designed to efficiently kill it.

To make a long story longer, a few days later I went to the local library in search of some books to learn more. I recall the first book I took home was a compilation of Ernie Pyle dispatches and they had a profound effect on me. Now I have my own library with hundreds of books on WW2, and it was all started by Steel Panthers over 20 years ago.

No, now go away or I shall taunt you a second time!

I looked on the website, have there been any further updates on this? This would really scratch an itch I've been having lately.
