Hi all

I had this game first time around and enjoyed it then. Having installed the allmods patch I've got to say that this game now looks jaw-droppingly awesome, so congrats to all those that worked on it - It looks like there are a lot of you. I was thoughtful enough to keep the printed manuals and keycard from before, but it's evident that the game has grown quite a bit since then. So my question is, do you have a supplement or addendum to the manual detailing the things that you've added or improved?

But, it's just list of improvements, there is no updated manual I am afraid.

Well thanks guys. That'll do for starters. I've got some questions obviously. Perhaps you could help me clear some of the mist away?

Firstly I'm guessing that screen resolution is a matter of setting it to the best possible that runs without a crash? It seems to work on all but the highest one at the moment.

Secondly, a question about joysticks: I have a Speedlink Black Widow that I really like as the rudder buttons are very intuitive for helos. Is there a way of programming it in-game? I also have a Saitek X-52 and I guess the same question applies there.

Hi Baldeagle61

about the screen resolution I can't say anything, because my workstation and my homecockpit aren't useable at the moment (still much work to do before this is finished) and all I have for testing EECH is my laptop with a res of 1366x768 only.

In-game programming is not possible at the moment, because Allmods is based on an old game from 1999 which hadn't such an option. I've also asked this a few months ago and got the answer that it is not possible at the moment, but something that maybe will integrated in the future.

For the Saitek HOTAS it must be possible to program keyboard codes (keyboard keypress emulation) to the buttons with the Saitek programming software. I never used Saitek HOTAS but as far as I know they have a similar software like the one Thrustmaster uses.

For the Black Widow no such software exists. I know this, cause I also own one which I use as my mobile HOTAS if I'm not at home (has all you need and is small enough to fit in a suitcase) biggrin . Here you can use programs like:

Joystick Gremlin - http://whitemagic.github.io/JoystickGremlin/

UCR (Universal Control Remapper) - https://autohotkey.com/boards/viewtopic.php?t=12249

Hi

Thanks. The resolution looks good, although the Comanche HUD looks a bit small. Is this normal on that aircraft?

I'll look those up. I could use the key to joy utility too I suppose. As you say, the X-52 comes with it's own profiling software. I just wondered if someone had a profile that they use for this game.

I'd like to try the training missions from EECH Central, but I don't see them anywhere on the main screen. Am I just being daft here?

small victories...

Doesn't sound like you're being that helpful. What did I do wrong? Am I in the wrong forum?

Hi Messyhead

No. You and Viper have been very helpful. It's the guy with the angry emoji that seems to have a problem. I may be getting on a bit but I know what sticky keys are.

I've recently learnt the hard way, that not everything typed in a post is as it was intended. Quite a few forum members are not native english speakers, so sometimes things get lost in translation.

It's sometimes a good idea not to read too much into how the words look on screen.

It is when he's pulling an angry face and telling me to type cntrl f1 five times. Have you not got a moderator on this site? He's just posted again. What's his problem? I think I'm done here.

Hey XIII,

What's with the insulting remarks ?

I've been in this forum for many years and have found the people here to be very helpful - even when I asked stupid questions.

If you're remarks had been directed at me I'd be offended as well.

This forum is about helping other users of EECH and bringing more people in to the fold ( you never know, some of them might have skills that can be used here to help us all). Your comments have potentially lost us a new member. Thanks for that !

BTW I'm quite sure that Terence's ID will be above 61 as he is typing on a forum on the internet.

Andy

It has been quite some time since I have posted to the forums here. Other pursuits have occupied my time for quite awhile. However, I stumbled into this thread thinking, "EECH... I haven't played that in ages, I wonder how it is fairing."
I am normally not one to get in the middle of Internet altercations or misunderstandings. However, I do believe that in his original post XIII was attempting to help, and I would be remiss if I did not try to assist the original poster as well.

It has been several years since I last used this software and readily admit I may be mistaken, but if memory serves correctly either ALT + F1 or Ctrl + F1 is the shortcut key used in EECH to resize the HUD / IHADSS independent of screen resolution. Pressing that key combination several times should cycle through several different HUD sizes, if it has survived the significant code changes.

Great work with the sim, by the way, the modders have achieved some remarkable steps forward from what I am reading.

Carry on.

I'm the moderator for this forum, and there are other mods for SimHQ overall. I agree that the comments made were not helpful, and my post was just to try and defuse the situation from getting any worse. I see now that's not happened.

I hope you do stay around, as it's always nice to have new members join the community.

If you don't want to post helpful information to a members question - whether they're new or otherwise - then don't post anything. Posting unhelpful comments, has a negative effect. There are plenty of others on this forum that will come along and answer questions if they can.

This isn't the first time you've posted remarks that are unhelpful, or insulting to other members. Please don't continue with it.
