Prepar3D v4.1 is available now!

The Prepar3D team is excited to release the first update to v4! We have been hard at work building upon the major changes made in version 4 to continue making Prepar3D the most feature-rich, stable, and performant training platform available. This release includes numerous enhancements, new features, and bug fixes based on user and developer feedback.

Virtual Reality (VR) is now available in any view and includes an interactive mouse pointer enabling cockpit interaction. Aircraft interiors are brought to life with support for 4k textures and cockpit rain effects. Many updates were made to further improve stability, add-on compatibility, and performance in this release

I don't see any rain effects. I only installed the client. Is this why?

I read that it needs to be implemented individually

How do you implement it individually? The video was a demo with no instructions.

from what I understand only the developer can do it - it should be implemented already on those aircraft that came with 4.1, I am going to install 4.1 tomorrow.

You should install the "content" update, that´s where you have the "VC Rain" addition (only for default airframes).

I picked up the TFDi 717 recently and can´t wait for there addition of "True Glass" which looks quite better then the actual VC Rain. It´s a big step to what we had before in FSX/P3D (PrecipitFX), but TrueGlass just looks more realistic. It should be out soon along with fog/ice and a general 717 update. TrueGlass is exclusive to the TFDi 717 and P3Dv4, they might make this for other aircraft in the future as a addon.

P3D is getting better and better all the time - and I don't say that only because it is my favorite way to spend my sim flying time, it is because this has been true since I started flying P3D v1.4.

So if I wanted to move from FSX to P3Dv4, the Academic License is the one to buy?

Yezzir!!! Once the Flight1 King Air is ported over, I will make the move to delete my copy of FSX.

Iam happy I made the move! I was looking forward to this since P3Dv2.5, while at it I ran out of graphics with my card so the wait has been the last two years with no flying! Moved to a new card and P3Dv4 and Iam a happy camper now again with almost all my original aircraft back in my hanger! Speaking of the King Air, unfortunatley Iam still waiting for Milviz to finish my Beechcarft KA 350i. Someday...
