Not many decent Aussie paint jobs in game or downloadable..unless you think we only have Mad Max Falcons down here, so i have decided to rectify that with a couple of beasts.

Fx 48-215 Holden Ute. This should be a sedan as that is what Des West raced back in the day but you don't get the sedan option so a ute it is. Des is a bit of legend, raced every thing you could throw at him for nearly 60 years, rallies, circuits, supercars and even the London to Sydney marathon. Had to make her old and knocked up as that is what she still looks today. I was pretty happy with my idea to make a dirty handprint on the door!

The only time she gets a shine is in the wet.

John Goss Special (the mad max falcon) Released in '75 to commemorate his win at Bathurst in '74. Badge says 351 on the bootlid but she was a Clevo 302. Had a mate who owned one of these, she was a bit of a pig, heavy and under powered. They only made between 4 and 500 odd of these girls though so she is a bit of a rarity. Front and rear bars are also meant to be colour coded but you don't get the option to paint them unfortunately.

Dukes air time!

Holden HQ GTS 350 Monaro in my favourite colours, silver with the orange stripe kit, lovely bit of gear. Couldn't help myself and had to add the blower, tried to keep her sensible though at about 700 HP. Yes, those stripes were painful, not as painful as the Goss stripes but still time consuming.

2014 HSV GTS Commodore in a wishful thinking SLR8000 scheme. Nice cars and you can't beat that aircon but they don't attract the wanting looks like the old school muscle.

And my favourite of the bunch, a balls to the wall 1500 HP 1977 Holden Torana A9X, Bathurst and touring car legend and a much sought after classis muscle car down here. One went for 260k here on the coast January this year and an ex Bathurst 9X went for 600k. Only 100 of the hatch (race) versions were built with 300 sedan versions. Specifically built to win Bathurst, which they did easily two years in a row in '78 and '79. I took a bit of liberty with this one and she is a bit of a mix up paint job, it has the SLR/5000 (four door '75 sedan) Torana paint scheme. The A9X's were clean and you have to know what you were looking for to pick them out as they are nearly identical to the SLR/5000 body kit. I had a four door Torana back in the day with the SLR bodykit, 350, T350 and the 9' standard street combo. Weapon of a machine but i have been lucky enough to score a drive in two A9X hatchbacks over the years.

Of course she never had a blower either, it had a factory fitted bonnet scoop.

What game is this? I'm sorry I don't recognize the acronym. This is beautiful! I've not had much experience with car sims but this look lovely. One of the last car games I bought was "Next Car Game" and I feel kind of like whoever was behind that ripped us off. I'm not even sure if its even out of early access after years and years. Its uninstalled and I have no desire to look at it again unless they finished it. Does this type of game/sim have a free ride mode and big maps? Man I can't get over those pictures. The graphics are so "unreal" that they look like real photographs.

Yep. Forza 3 H.

Coot it has only one map which is sort of a hodge podge of Australia jammed in one place. They squished in Surfers Paradise(Beach City area), Byron Bay (Hippie chill out party town beach area), Coober Pedy (desert town) onto a map with a piece of the outback and some rainforest areas. It's a lovely map to drive around but not so huge, something like 200 square Kilometres. It's fully free roam with a ton of race events you can set up, race classes and Festivals you set up which is where your garage and all other options are. You can call a car to anywhere on the map but it cost you earnings. You can race other cars out on the open roads randomly when you come upon 'racers' in the wild. It's a sweet game that falls between arcade and sim, simlite maybe. Lots of nice big open desert roads, swoopy coastal roads with plenty of dirt tracks and rally racing to be had in between plus you chuck donuts on the beaches biggrin There pretty much isn't anywhere you cannot drive.

I just love doing up a machine, tuning it and then going for a cruise and seeing how they handle and then tweaking them. I have three Toranas at different stages of tune so i can run them in different classes for racing and appreciate them all. There is an online side so you can head to head race in events or just free race at the Airstrip out in the desert. I've had a few drags out there but most everyone runs AWD V10 or V12 monsters in their old streetcars which sort of kills the fun when you turn up in an underpowered rear wheel drive rig. All in all it's a great looking game and like i said, it's just fun cruising smile

Cruising into Surfers which is about 90 minutes North of me, Byron Bay in real life is about 90 minutes South of me so a 3 hour trip from woah to go, in game that run is about five minutes.

A shot that shows a bit of the openess of the map. Everywhere you can see you can drive, plenty of fun to be had in a Mad Max build Falcon blowing red dust everywhere.

Online and lined up at the Car Meet to secure a head to head drag at the airstrip, i'm using my lads Xbox account who in turn is using his friends name, kids are weird biggrin The game kept crashing on his rig so after i spotted the Toranas i decided i needed to secure it wink

Driving setups, i've tried three- Momo wheels and pedal, KB and Mouse and Xbox 360 controller. Xbox controller seems the best, just had to stuff around a bit with dead zones via a post at Reddit to get it sorted. The wheel was a hassle, maybe it's a bit old now but i just could not get the dead zones right.

Looks like a lot of fun. I was watching "Metal Jesus Rocks" and he showed a bunch of his unusual console controlers from over the years. He had one that was specifically made for a racing game and the controller looked similar to a traditional controller but it had a wheel set in the middle and he says it was made for that game and allows for the best control.

Seeing that I wonder why a controller company hasn't attempted that again knowing there are so many car games? Knowing that most folks may not go all in for a racing wheel or even folks who do but don't want to drag it all out how awesome would it be to have a special controller or attachment for the main controller that adds a really nice, precise analog steering wheel in the center that can be controlled with the thumbs and give the player at least a little more control immersion.
