Hi!
I seems that I tried everything I could think of, and now I could really use some advice. It's all about essentially the one and only Korean airwar sim out there - Rowan's MiG Alley.
Few months ago I used to have an old ATI 7870 graphics card, and MA was working perfectly with it (although only with obsolete Catalyst 13.1 or older). Then 7870 died and I bought Nvidia's GTX 1060. All in all 1060 proved to be even better with old games than 7870 (and definitely better than contemporary AMD RX480). But three sims (among the ones I need, at least) are still a problem: Jane's USAF, Hangsim, MiG Alley. The latter is most essential, since in the last 18 years noone made anything comparable.
The symptoms are as follows:
1) Considerable slowdown at low altitudes, to 20 fps.
2) Holes in cockpit, see screenshots.
3) Partually transparent terrain textures, especially on horizon (same problem with USAF).
4) Pixelated trail behind fast-moving objects (wing and v-stab of F-86 on 3rd screenshot).
All this appears only in 3d-accelerated mode, making the game essentially inplayable or at least unenjoyable:(

MiG Alley is patched with official 1.23 patch, as well as BDG's 0.85F. Drivers version is 368.81 - the oldest I could fit om GTX1060.

So, my question is: did anyone happen to have a positive experience with MiG Alley on present generation of NVidia cards?

What I already tried:
1) All (ok, most of) the possible settings in video driver. Through NVIDIA Profile Inspector mostly.
2) All the settings ingame. Software mode makes difference - holes are gone, fps is always 50 for some reason (my refresh is 75HZ), everything looks bad and fonts are white fields.
3) DXGL and dgVoodoo2. Doesn't even start. The best result with dgVoodoo - black screen, sounds and controls working.
4) Tried plugging in even older ATI 4870 as a second videocard today. Holes are gone, but fps drop is still there (wasn't there with 7870).

Would really appreciate any viable recommendations. Except for a separate legacy machine - that's too obvious:)

Try changing compatbility in the short cut . I got mine working well on Win7 using WinXp and Win2000 compatibility modes - try a few and see what happens.

I am a big fun of mig alley too, from the day it was realised until today i can't find a game with that great gameplay during dogfights.
I also tried to have it on my pc through my various upgrades but the last years its almost impossible to run it correctly with the new gfx and the updated drivers. It has problems both with nvidia and amd. To run it correctly on amd you need old catalyst drivers like you mention, i have an r9 and i can only play it with software display settings that make the game horrible and the text unreadable. I have n't manage to run it with primary display and it always ctd, whatever i do and try. Now with nvidia i also had the same problem with the graphics like the first picture, the only solution was to roll back to very old drivers, that make it work but i don't think they will be compatible with your 1060. The last solution to play old games is to download vmware and install windows xp (parallel windows) which supports 3d accelaration old games. I succeed to run properly janes usaf, janes f15 and many other old flight sims but i have the same issues with mig alley whatever i do.

I too am a big fan of Mig Alley. Wouldnt it be nice if U could run that and Silent Hunter III on modern PC's. Just plug and play.

So vmware doesn't help with MiG Alley too?
